Love the weight, it doesn't move when you're using it. The magnifier is clear and made of glass. The ring light has two settings, but for some reason my switch is wired so that 1 is the bright setting, and 2 is the dimmer setting. This meant I was quite disappointed initially as I just thought is wasn't particularly bright until I tried the other setting.

Stable base and arms stay where you position them. Unlike the bright plastic ones that seem to bend and then bend back, this one stays where it is just and easy to position multiple components for soldering. Well made. Perfect for what I need.

Bought as a gift and impressed with the quality. Good weighted base so no toppling. Clips are strong. Well packaged. A great bit of kit to the modell.

It was easy to assemble and came with easy to understand instructions. It has some real weight to it so it won't fall over easily if you knock it. You can adjust all the arms to the positions you want to. There was one part I had trouble with. I didn't realise the little plastic nibs were for the end of the crocodile clips till I checked the amazon listing. They were easy fairly easy to put on, but would recommend putting them on first before attaching the crocodile clips to the arms as otherwise it could be a little fiddly if you have big hands like myself.

When you rotate arms or light handle in order to adjust for desired position - something that this product should be designed for- screws that are holding arms and light onto the base start loosening. This is major flaw, as in order to compensate, you have to tighten the screws frequently. I have had this thing for about two months, used it once for some soldering and then I have been using the light with magnifying glass only, but today the light handle broke apart. I am giving it two stars because the base is otherwise decent and sturdy.

Un excellent produit auquel j'enlève malgré tout une étoile car le bras accueillant la loupe était peu stable sur le modèle reçu (défaut de fixation à la colle ou à la soudure) J'ai utilisé de la colle à chaud pour solidariser à nouveau l'ensemble.

Non lo uso per saldare ma per sorreggere miniature da fotografare.Al mio scopo va benissimo, sono fotografie quasi macro con soggetti molto piccoli che posso orientare a piacimento scegliendo l'inquadratura "perfetta". Sono molto soddisfatto dell'acquisto. Unico neo, un braccetto non si fissa bene, rimane un po' di gioco.E' un difetto da poco ma è un difetto.

Right out of the box my first impression was how stable this thing is. The base plate is 3/8" steel plate, weighing over 2 lbs (tips the scales at over a kilo)! Right after I put it together I popped a little board in the clips and banged about on my desk...no wobble or vibration evident in the component. Very sturdy. Assembly took about ten minutes (much of the time was spent pushing the little rubber boots over the alligator clip jaws). Four of the feet are screwed into the bottoms of the articulated holding arms, and the fifth is stuck in place with an included sticky patch. The magnifier arm has an extremely strong magnet to hold it to the base, rather than screws, so it can be easily removed if necessary. The LED ring light in the magnifier adjusts in brightness and three color settings, and the magnifier is clear, though seems a little small (2 1/4") in diameter, but big enough to see the working soldering joint. Magnifier came with a nice draw-string baggie to protect it (we'll see how long it takes me to lose that!). Glad I spent the extra versus one of the cheaper offerings; very happy with this
