Everybody's favorite know-it-all, Ernest P. Worrell, scares up heaps of hilarious laughs in this frightfully funny comedy! The loveable lunkhead is in for a devil of a time when he accidentally unleashes an evil demon from its sacred tomb, causing the awakened foe to go on a devastating rampage. Ernest desperately attempts to prevent the destruction of town, but a 200-year-old curse renders Ernest Scared Stupid! And that's when the fun and adventure begin! Loaded with uproarious hilarity, and a host of outrageously kooky characters, this big-screen treat delivers off-the-wall nuttiness that's sure to drive you wild any time of the year!

Ol Boogerlips
Vern, I freaking love this movie! It's always been one of my all time favorites since I was a kid, and I rewatch it at least once every year for Halloween. This is Ernest at his best, most cocky, most zany, and in my opinion, this is by far the most creative of the Ernest movies. It feels like the filmmakers finally figured out how to maximize Jim Varney's physical movements. And there are lots of funny, frantic and creative cut scenes to add to the story. Also, this movie scared me when I was a kid! It's too bad this was the last Disney Ernest movie, because it felt they were just figuring out how to capture all the Ernest potential. After this one the rest of the films were not connected to Disney and lose that magic. To anyone who loves Ernest movies, keep the Ernest conversation and spirit alive, knowutimean?!

Ernest Scared Stupid on Blu-ray
If you want Ernest Scared Stupid in Blu-ray, this is your only option. I would say it does look better than the DVD. So that is cool. However, there is absolutely no special features whatsoever. The movie just starts playing. When it ends it goes to a menu that has a picture & an icon that says play. Play is quite literally your only option. I do love this movie. I have been looking for this on Blu-ray for a long time. So I was happy to receive it & watched it immediately.

Good Halloween movie for the entire family. Underrated.
Rented this to watch with the kids for Halloween. They loved it as much as I did when I was their age. People make fun of Ernest but he was great entertainment for children. Scary enough for a 3 and 6 yr old to pull the blanket over their head but light hearted enough to make them enjoy it. I have to admit that some parts are still funny to me after 30 years. Great movie for Halloween. If you have kids you won’t regret renting it. Happy Halloween.

THE GREATEST EARNEST MOVIE KNOWN TO MAN
I have watched this every halloween since I was a kid. Gross trolls and hilarious Earnest? You can't beat it. Funny and childlike enough for your kids to enjoy - but enough adult humor that we aren't staring at the clock wondering when it will be over. Plus it has amazing 90s vibes! If you haven't seen it, rent it!If this review helped you - please leave a thumbs-up!(I was not paid or incentivized in any way to give this review. I purchased this product with my own hard-earned money!)

Classic Ernest!
Although this film is “family friendly” Trantor has nearly ruined my childhood! I HATED that troll and he scared the sh*t out of me growing up. After almost a decade of not watching this movie I recently decided to watch it again, but this time with my children. They liked the movie and weren’t even phased by the troll - just grossed out by his snots all over his face 😷RIP Jim Varney

Know what I mean vern?
Its Ernest, what else do you need? He's hilarious and this is probably my favorite Ernest film. With comedic gold like, "uh uh, there aint no trees in Botswana. I am a Botswanian lumberjack and I aint never had no job" and "how bout a bumper sandwich booger lips?" You can't go wrong. Also, Eartha Kitt is amazing. Just watch the movie.

Nostalgia to pass down to the next generation
As someone who watched this as a kid (I'm 32 now), I decided it was finally time to pass the buck and make my 5 year old son watch it as well. He loved it. Just the right amount of funny and scary to appeal to him. There are a few slow parts or 'grown up' parts that needed a little explaining, but most of it was on his level. We rented the movie, but we may have to purchase it because he liked it so much.

We love Ernest!
Call us weird, but we love the Ernest movies. This was received in a timely fashion, ahead of schedule, and though pre-owned, it played as if brand new. And we got to watch a favorite Halloween movie. It was great, Vern...know whut I mean????

Not so stupid
This umpteenth screen appearance for Ernest P. Worrell has the bumbling handyman accidentally awaken an imprisoned troll a day before Halloween, leading to the creature going on a rampage through a small town. It's probably the most imaginative Ernest adventure and features appropriately gruesome creature effects by the Chiodo Brothers (who also created the Critters and the Killer Klowns from Outer Space). The production values are also quite good, but the kids are a little grating. My only real complaint is the same thing that bugged with previous Ernest movies. Director John Cherry is so used to directing television and commercials that you can tell he's given every shot in the movie a maximum of two takes, giving everything a badly-rehearsed feel. Sounds like a petty grievance, but it would have made a difference to hone the acting a little more and tighten things up.Probably not a Halloween classic, but it's hardly a time of year for family movies. The Blu-ray looks great in 1.78:1 1080p but features plain-old Dolby 2.0 sound. There are no extras, not even a menu. But for a bargain bin Mill Creek release, it's still worth the money.

Brought back childhood memories
This was one of my favorate childhood movies. Even though it creeped my mother out and the character annoyed my dad.The film takes you back to the days without all the swearing and violence that movies today can't seem to live without.A great movie is a movie where you really feel for the character, feel his pain, laugh at his cheesy jokes, and take a proud smile when he finally gets it right. This movie has it all !
