Contour Pillow

I've had this pillow for a little over a month now and I love it! Finally a relief from the neck and shoulder pain... First thing I noticed was the smell. But thanks to others' comments, I let it sit in my basement for 2 days and the smell is gone. I did remove the cover and wash it while the pillow was airing. Also put the pillow on a rack and turned it once a day to get the best airflow around it. Second thing was it was hard and cold when I first put my head on it. Well, this didn't feel promising! However, within just a few minutes the pillow had warmed to a comfortable temperature and had molded to my head and neck. Third was I slept the best I had in months and had no shoulder or neck pain the next morning. Hmm. Maybe we're on to something here... It's been several weeks now. The smell is gone - has been since I let it air. Every night I notice the hardness but am always comforted in the knowledge in a few seconds it will be perfect. I have also noticed that when I roll over or change position on the pillow, where ever I move my head, the pillow is already the right temperature to cradle head and neck comfortably. I tend to change sides and occasionally sleep on my back. With each change, the pillow is still comfortable. I have also noticed the pillow stays a comfortable temperature. Even when I am hot, it stays cool. But if I am cold, it is comfortably warm. It is magically a comfortable temperature. A note here - I do use a regular pillow case over its own cover - this so it matches my sheets. Also, I can change the regular case on a regular basis to keep things cleaner. No neck or shoulder pain since the first night. I've also noticed - sometimes I tend to sleep with my arms under my head under the pillow. The pillow conforms to the lumps of my hands and/or arms and remains very supportive and comfortable. Should I pull my arms out, the pillow quickly re-conforms to best support. I've also noticed that my arms/hands do not get too hot under the pillow. I live with the constant pain and uncomfortableness of Fibromyalgia. A good share of my pain is neck, upper back and shoulder, but the rest of my body joins in as well. With this pillow I have noticed a marked decrease in daily pain in those areas. And, with the more restful sleep, the rest of my pain and stiffness is much decreased. Amazing what a huge difference in my health and well-being! The one thing I've been wondering is why did I wait so long to buy this pillow? Well, no matter! I have it now and will never go back to a regular pillow again! I'm so stuck on this pillow that, with an out of town trip coming up soon, I've changed plans on luggage so I can take my pillow with me! Thank you to all of you that wrote informative reviews. They helped me decide on this pillow over several others. And, they were right. I am very pleased with this purchase!

I was very hesitant to buy a pillow online. I buy a lot of pillows; I keep 6 on my bed alone and like to have some in the guest room and living room too. The last pillow I bought I hand picked out at a major retailer. It felt good in my hands but was terrible to sleep on. Since I picked it up in person I was a bit scared to order one online. I had heard good things about `Sleep Innovations' and also read the great reviews prior to buying which made me feel more comfortable. I had a contour pillow about 15 some years ago so I was not expecting much from this pillow. I thought if it was not comfortable I at least had a new terry pillowcase which I justified by buying it. When I received it I was very happy with the packaging. It was well sealed in a plastic bag. You do not have to worry about warehouse hands literally handling it. I read about the odor but I did not have that issue. I did not use it for a few hours though since I received it in the morning. I did place another pillowcase over it to match my sheets. I will note the pillow is smaller than a standard pillow. I placed it on my bed and when my head first went down I thought I was going to have a hard time with it but within minutes I was so happy! My head formed a shape to the pillow and it was so comfortable! I primarily sleep on my side and stomach and it is a dream! The last few nights I have slept on it I do not want to get up it is so comfortable! For the price it is `priceless' when you get even one good nights sleep. I want to add I have a lot of back pain lately. I recently had a child and am still recovering from the c section and being a single parent I am lugging the high chair, play yard, car seat, baby, all of it which is an average of 20 lbs. if not more. I would wake up every morning with back pains. Since having the pillow my back pain has not been as high. I do contribute it to the pillow and my neck/spine. For the side and stomach sleepers this pillow is a must. I am so impressed and would highly recommend it.

I have been using contour pillows for 15 years. I bought my newest one to replace my prior Sleep Innovations contour memory foam pillow. Based on many reviews that I had read, I purchased both the Sleep Innovations cooling contour pillow and the regular contour pillow at the same time because I wanted to try out the cooling effect. I MUCH prefer the regular version over the cooling version. I ended up giving the cooling pillow to my husband and keeping the Sleep Innovations contour memory foam pillow. It is exactly like the regular contour pillow that I bought 5 years ago from Sleep Innovations. I was very pleased. There are a few differences between the regular and the cooling contour pillows. Cooling-wise, I can only tell a slight difference in temperature. The cooling version is not as firm as the regular version, so your head sinks lower with the cooling pillow. The cooling version had a stronger chemical smell which took longer to go away. For example, I aired out the cool contour pillow for a week before use, and it still had a slight odor when I started using it. I only had to air the regular contour pillow out for two days before use. The cool contour pillow looks as if someone simply cut a piece of blue foam and glued it to a piece of white memory foam. The right side of the pillow is higher than the left, which isn't noticeable when lying on it, but it makes it look like poorer quality. The size is perfect - same as a typical contour pillow, and the firmness was exactly the same as my old contour pillows - not too firm and not too soft. My head doesn't sink to the level of the mattress, as some said in their reviews. I feel as though my neck is at perfect alignment when I am using the pillow. I would recommend the pillow to others, and I will certainly keep buying them.

Like many others, I first became acquainted with the Sleep Innovations Memory Foam pillow when they were being sold at Costco several years ago. I love that pillow. It's excellent. It's heavy, dense, not too soft and not too firm and provides excellent memory foam support. I don't know what this awful product being sold now is, but I can tell you after buying two, and quickly returning them both, this is not the same thing I got at Costco years ago. This feels like the cheap, made-in-China knockoff version of my original Sleep Innovations pillow. Seriously. It weighs about 1/3 as much as the original pillows, and feels more like styrofoam than memory foam. The crazy light weight makes it feel super cheap, but that would not be a huge issue if the pillow was comfortable--unfortunately it's not. And I really don't think this is an opinion issue here, it's more of a fact. Unless memory foam is now suppose to feel like hard cardboard, there's something funny going on with these pillows. When you lay on it, there is no give at all. The whole point of memory foam is to contour around the shape of your body, this pillow just stays stiff. At first I thought maybe it was just cold. Cold memory foam is very stiff but when it warms up to normal temperatures it starts to have some give again. This pillow never warms up--at any temperature. I tried to sleep on it for two nights, the first night I suffered through hoping it would get better--it didn't, the second night I finally threw it on the floor and reached for my old Sleep Innovations memory foam pillow. The next day I started the return process. Frustrating. I would have expected as much had I tried a different brand of pillow, but I thought I'd be safe sticking with the same brand product. My mistake. Clearly these guys changed their manufacturing specs. If you read through the reviews on Amazon all of the positive reviews are from several years ago, and all of the recent reviews are horrible. I should have ready more carefully to figure that out. Regardless, whatever they changed, maybe they are saving a bunch of money by making them super light and super stiff, but it's not the same product it was, it doesn't feel like memory foam at all, and I can almost guarantee that unless you're looking for a block of styrofoam to sleep on, you won't like this new version of their pillow.

Starting off with a 3 star review (I will come back to update my review). The smell that others have mentioned is very real, and quite nasty, very chemical in nature. Given that making memory foam is actually a chemical process anyway, and I read the other reviews before purchasing I was expecting this. When the package arrived I placed my head on a pillow through its original plastic packaging and was in immediate blissful heaven. The feel of these pillows appeals to my particular preferences. I then removed the pillow from its package, from a couple feet away (roughly arms length of a 6 ft male) I didn't smell anything so it wasn't all encompassing in a room. When I put my nose next to it and smelled it was however extremely noticeable at that point. I received Sunday Feb 1st(Sunday delivery, was strange but welcome) and I've allowed the pillows to rest in an empty room out of there packaging until today Friday Feb 6th(2015 for reference). So far the smell has not completely dissipated, I've also turned the pillows over several times to allow for better airflow on all sides. So far the thing I've experienced most is the smell, however the memory of the FEEL of the pillow is wonderful. Would I recommend? From my personal experience so far; if you want a pillow for immediate use I would not recommend this pillow. However memory foam is made from chemicals and I would expect them to need to air out(note: I ordered memory foam pillows from a different company at the same time, which arrived afterwards and are completely smell free already; this could be from several factors though(Maybe open longer in factory before packaged? Maybe not as dense, so many factors...) so please keep that in mind). Are you looking for a semi-firm pillow that will likely feel amazing while sleeping? Then FROM MY INITIAL FEEL I would indeed recommend this product! This is again reviewed as-is because I've not yet put them to a nights use as they are airing out, but I'm allowing them to air out completely and will update this review to include impressions after proper usage, but I do expect great things from this pillow. I will also update my star reviews at that time, as you've read above so far my initial impressions are mixed but I want to give it a fair chance, hence midway on the stars. Update: 2/13/2015: SO, the night of the initial review I decided the smell was low enough to tolerate. So far my initial impressions have proven true to MY preferences. This is exactly what I expect in a memory foam pillow. A unique but quite comfortable feel when I lay my head on the pillow. This pillow does bounce back immediately and contours to my head exactly as >I THINK< the advertisement promises. Have I met better pillows? Yes, I've come across other pillows that my particular preferences prefer. HOWEVER, I ordered this pillow for this exact feel and it has delivered as promised. I sleep with multiple pillows out of preference, even with memory foam! This isn't my TOP pillow, but its absolutely perfect for my lower layer, and when I feel like getting my head lower at night occasionally I am perfectly comfortable removing my top pillow and enjoying the comfort that this pillow offers. Would I recommend this to other people? Yep, I added another star to my review for this reason, it is what I expected in this type of pillow and delivered what I perceived the description to be. This is a review after (almost) 7 days in use. I will update in a couple months after more vigorous use.

The Sleep Innovations memory foam contour pillow is the solution to my many years' search for a pillow that helps me to have a comfortable night's sleep and not wake up with neck or shoulder pain,or headaches. I have some cervical stenosis and disc issues. I have a collection of pillows including down pillows, cervical neck rolls, D-core , Tri-core , and water pillows. My family good-naturedly laughs at my collection, but neck pain is no joke. I had recently bought a Sleep Better Iso-Cool Memory Foam Cervical Pillow ( on Amazon for nearly twice the price of the Sleep Innovations's pillow). That pillow 's foam was too firm and didn't mold well to my neck . The worst problem with that pillow was that neither side was the right height for me. ( I am 5' 5" , of average build) The Sleep Better's high side was a tad too high, and the Sleep Better's low side was too low . I would wake up with headaches or neck and shoulder aches depending on which side I used. The Sleep Innovations's pillow is a somewhat softer memory foam which nicely molds to my neck without loosing its support even after a night's sleep. Most importantly, the low side , which is a little higher than the competitor's pillow, fits my neck -shoulder height perfectly .( I am a slide sleeper) I should add that the odor of the Sleep Innovations pillow was much, much less than the Sleep Better. I needed to air the Sleep Better pillow out for several days, and the odor still lingered for a while. I actually used the Sleep Innovation's pillow right away, and while there was some odor, it was quite bearable. Bottom line, as I was told by numerous PT's and chiropractors, everyone's neck is different , and you just have to find the pillow that works for you. I finally did at Amazon for about $23! Update: I had been using a regular pillow cover. I discovered that the stretchy cover that comes with this pillow actually helps it conform to my neck. I have found that with the stretchy pillow case, the higher side is the right side to sleep on my side.

I really want to like it. But I don't know as though it is helping me. I bought this pillow because of reoccuring neck problems (not so much stiffness, but a constant crick that I can't pop on my own). I usually wake up with it and even after a chiropractor fixed it it comes back. I had two chiropractor appointments to try and fix my latest crick, but still had problems, at which time I started using this pillow. It is an amazing pillow, in theory. I selected it because some reviews "complained" that it was softer than your average memory foam pillow, and I love soft pillows. And it is very soft, but also firm. My head only sinks so far into the softness before it stops, and my head feels like it's floating, and it's great. However, I don't think my head sinks enough. I stil feel like my head is slightly elevated when I rest on it. I can say after over a week of using it, that it's changed how my neck hurts, though. Because of the slight elevation, my neck feels cricked when I'm sleeping and can sometimes be painful, but sometimes when I wake up my neck doesn't hurt so bad and throughout the day doesn't hurt as bad. But then I have days where it doesn't help at all. I do want to love it. It's a nice pillow. But just doesn't seem to be helping my problem.

I'm a side sleeper mostly, and occasionally sleep on my back. I don't sleep on my stomach. My neck has always bothered me off and on, but the pain got so bad six months ago that sometimes I could not even sleep, and normal activities like washing my hair or turning my head was agony. I'm a busy person and tried to suck it up, but it was too incapacitating to ignore. I was skeptical this pillow would do me any good, and I only tried it because I was desperate, but I'm so glad I did. My neck was killing me so badly that I thought my normal life might be over. But out of everything I tried (and I tried nearly everything) this pillow and one other thing (which I shall describe below) made me a normal person again. When I first got the pillow and took it out of the plastic bag it comes in, it did have some slight "outgassing" going on, which was noticeable but not overpowering. Ideally, I would suggest letting it sit out for a couple days/weeks if you can before you use it. But my pain was too immediate to wait, so I used it right away. At first, I would sleep on the edge of it to keep the oder away from my nose. I'm extremely sensitive to smells, but it got better over time, and after a few weeks it went away entirely as far as I could tell, and it's a none-issue for me now. It takes a bit of time to get used to this pillow. It's like when you get a new cellphone. It will seem weird and unfamiliar at first, but eventually you are so comfortable with it you can't remember the other. And you will never get it to fit your pillowcase perfectly. Don't get me wrong, you can use normal pillowcases just fine (I use Queen and King sized ones as that is what I have) but it will never be like a fluffy marshmallow pillow, as the filling is not shaped that way. You might think: these things don't sound great, why would I want this pillow? But wait, here's the thing -- it works! It saved my neck. At least it did for me and two relatives of mine who also found the same relief. It keeps my neck from getting wonky, and it helps me sleep when it is acting up. Sometimes l go to sleep a bit worried because my neck is starting to hurt, and after a restful night on this pillow, I wake up and it feels fine. A tip to remember is to flip the pillow occasionally if it starts to feel like it's not supporting your head properly. The other thing I tried that seems to really help is that whenever it is possible, I put my laptop on a box which brings it to my eye level (so I'm not looking down but straight ahead) and I've attached an inexpensive mouse and keyboard to the laptop. This makes it more like a desktop. Occasionally I get lazy or rebellious and I don't do it, and it doesn't take very long before my neck starts to pay the price. I give that tip five stars as well. And while this pillow is not perfect, as it has literally saved my neck and given me my life back, I gladly give it five stars. It's also given me a deeper sleep than I used to have. It's worth a try and I hope that it helps others, as it's very difficult to enjoy life when it's a pain in the neck.

I am side and back sleeper. I replaced an older version of the sleep innovations contour pillow with this version. The newer version is denser then the old version and can feel hard as a rock, but when the pillow becomes warm from your body heat it softens up to provide a nice cushioned head rest. Here are the height measurements of my pillow when laying flat: 4" high on short end, 3" high in the lowest point, and 5" high on tallest end. I sleep on the short end of pillow. The pillow has a slight smell to it, but will go away if aired out for few days. I washed the zippered pillow case it came with and use a second pillow case to cover the pillow. In combination with my firm bed, pillow, and average body size ( 5' 10' male) I get a great night's sleep. Highly recommended for side and back sleepers. YMMV depending on combination of body size, bed type, and this pillow (if possible find it in a bed store and try it out).

Oreiller très confortable pour nuque et cervicales sensibles, à la bonne hauteur, et pas trop dur, ni trop soft, la densité de la mousse est bien équilibrée. Je recommande.

THIS PILLOW IS A SOFT MEMORY FOAM PILLOW. This is my 2nd pillow and I love it. I only had the tag to identify it but with thanks to all the other comments I did get the exact replacement. Yes this is memory foam and there are firmer ones out there but this is not what I would call firm. When you push down on this pillow it bounces back; when you roll onto your side the pillow adjusts immediately. My first pillow lasted 5 years which is the length of the warranty but the price has gone up over 5 years. It has no funny smell at all. The first night I used this pillow I awoke without any neck pain at all. This is the best pillow and one side is higher so you can switch sides when the lower side gets worn. FOR OTHER MEMORY FOAMS PILLOWS: I have another memory pillow that is very firm there is no bounce back. The firm ones are so firm that it takes 5-10 seconds for your head to mold into the pillow. The firm ones are cold and if you roll onto your side the pillow will take another 5-10 seconds to settle.

Es la mejor compra que he hecho en un buen rato!! Valió totalmente la pena!! Amé está almohada! Es tan esponjosa y suavecita!! No puedo esperar a que sea la hora de dormir! Es súper cómoda y justo como dice el anunció acomoda tu cabeza y cuello en una posición perfecta!! La amo!! Creo que hasta me compraré otra!!! Jajaja
