This is Rebecca Mason, the Author and Illustrator of 'The Day My Daddy Died' and I am responsible for the accidental 4-Star Review! I am a first-time author and self-publisher and left the 4-star review after receiving my first published book thinking I was reviewing a few of the printing issues in that particular book which have all been corrected. I thought I was rating the printing issue on that specific book, not the contents of the actual story! I have called Amazon and they are not able to correct that rating since they do not alter Reviews in any way. So, my apologies for any confusion this caused, and I hope my explanation of the misunderstanding removes any hesitation about purchasing this wonderful children's book. All feedback both online and in person have been exemplary. I am honored to call this author my friend. I too searched for books to read to my small girls after they lost their father in 2007 as well. This book is beautifully written and illustrated. It speaks to the heart, and explains the "roller coaster ride" of emotions that your children feel after losing their father. My girls are now 19 and 20, and feel they will still benefit from it. I am so proud of you, Rebecca for putting your heart into this book and finishing it.

This book is so perfectly written to help children through a devastating loss! I hope those who need it find this book!! I bought it to give it to my neighbors for their grandson who lost his dad last year. It’s something a child can understand and hold onto and read over and over so they never feel alone. Rebecca is an amazing source of strength not just for her boys, but for everyone. She used her grief for good by sharing her story and talents!

I can't imagine the pain of losing your father at a young age. I am sure there are thousands of families that go through this ordeal every year. Rebecca's personal story of dealing with the loss of her husband / childrens father is heartfelt, and hopefully a great tool for other families dealing with this type of tragedy. Well written, and beautiful artwork. Hopefully it will help many children out there who lose a parent.

A subject matter that is so sensitive needs to have a book that helps relate to a child during this emotional and tragic time. This book does that, it’s beautifully written. It opens the conversation to the stages of grief a child, or anyone for that matter, goes through. And it offers hope at the end. Thank you for sharing your journey of grief and helping others along the way.
