Trimaco 10102 SuperTuff Sponge, 2 Pack Staining Pad

I love these staining sponges. They make staining with oil base stain easy. Whether on an outside deck or furniture, applying stain is easy. I recently used a water base stain and didn’t find these worked as well. But I did a large room project with whitewash stain recently and these sponges were the best. The stain applies easy and wiping back and forth with the stain allows you to put it on thick or thin.

I recently used these Trimaco SuperTuff Staining Pads to stain a large wood beam in my office, and the results were incredible. I usually use brushes, but these sponges provided a far superior application. They hold the stain exceptionally well without dripping, and the material allows you to lay down the color in smooth, even strokes. I had zero streaks or blotchiness, which is exactly what you want when staining a prominent architectural feature like a beam. The pad is also incredibly durable and maintained its shape and integrity throughout the entire project. The two-pack gave me exactly what I needed—one for the initial stain application and the second for wiping/smoothing the excess. If you are tackling a staining project (big or small), these pads are a non-negotiable tool. They deliver a professional finish with minimal effort. Highly recommend!

First off,I am not a pro at wood finishing. With that said, please take what I have to say as a complete novice. I have recently started woodworking and using oil base Polyurethane for my projects . When using Polly I have struggled getting a real good finish. I have used a brush, the foam brushes and a rag. After trying these I was shocked at how even the product laid down. They held more product so I could work a larger surface too. Very happy with them!

Avoid temptation to cut in half. There is a fabric wrapper that really makes the thing happen. It keeps coming off if cut in half. They are re-usable, wash out and keep in plastic bag. I use in combo with small foam roller and bristle brush.

These were ok in terms of applying the stain, but they absorbed way too much of the product I was using. The bottle I got was supposed to cover 250 sq. Ft. But I barely got through 50sq. Ft of my butcher block counters. They were not good for applying the sheen top coat. Too much lint.

I used this for apply a water based stain from Samac and it turned out very well. Durable and easy to clean for reuse.

Work as intended

These are great for applying uniformly thin coats of varnish. They wash up nicely too.
