Best harmonizer I have ever had. I use it with my electric keyboard as the trigger. I mentioned that first because it seems most of the reviews I read were based on using a guitar as the trigger and I wanted to let other keyboard players know that this really works for our needs as well.I tried 4 different makes and models before I found this one. To my ears this has the most enjoyable sound... not quite realistic... but I don’t feel that any of the harmonizers sound like real voices. It tracks quite well on vibrato and note bends. Most of the other pedals seem to have effects such as reverbs and compression built in. I didn’t need any of that because all of that is already in my mixing board. So that keeps the price down. It is a very well built, sturdy pedal... very easy to adjust and looks good as well. I’ve been recommending it to all my musician friends.

Spend a few extra bucks ands get the GXT. Autotune and harmony features sounds far too computerized.

Simple to operate, built like a tank, and most of all, provides exactly what it promises: excellent harmony for the soloist/musician. Having the option to have the harmony follow a musical instrument OR the soloist's voice is a great idea. Great as the VoiceTone H1 is, there's a few places for improvement. First, as many others have already mentioned, a positive click feel of the on/off button would remove doubt and the need to peak down to check the confirmation red light. Second, when first set up, it automatically defaults to the "on" position. It should default to the "off" position. Third, the instructions should make it very clear about the position of the Mic Control button which allows the TC Helicon mic, an optional mic, to have remote on/off control of the VoiceTone H1. Mine came with the button pressed in (for the optional mic) which made the harmony sound so awful I almost sent it back for a refund! I carefully reread the instructions and found a small reference about the button. Getting past these improvements, the VoiceTone H! is a keeper.

I am lead singer for a classic rock band, and also perform occasionally as a solo with acoustic guitar. I mostly got this to add some spice to my solo shows, but I am also finding it very cool to use with the band. Plusses: when set right for the song you are performing it works great! Negatives: it is sometimes a little slow to adjust to a chord change, so it sounds like on of your backup singers is searching for the right note. I've only put a couple of hours into using it so far, but I have already found that you have to alter your guitar playing slightly when using the H1. Where you might normally play a chord slightly behind the beat for a more emotional effect, that causes the H1 to delay getting the info it needs to match you. This is of course, when you are using the guitar a guide. Much better when set to the correct key for the song. I also noticed that when finger picking on the acoustic, I have to kind of sweep my finger across all the strings when switching chords. That might sound like a bigger deal than it is...it only took me a few minutes to get used to it. Of course, you can't do a cappela when set to the guitar as a guide, but I have been using it on the Eagles "Seven Bridges Road" very effectively by strumming the chords quietly behind the vocal. It sounds awesome!On some songs the "two voice above" setting sounds better; on others maybe a single voice, or one above and below might work. It will depend on your own voice (mine is baritone), the material and what effect you want. The controls are very easy to use, but I did find the manual helpful to answer a few simple questions. One reviewer complained that the controls are not recessed, therefore too easy to hit with your foot, and I have found that to be true also. Minor issue, but annoying.I will probably order a second one to have as a backup, and also to have set to a different type if harmony for faster changes when playing solo; also to use with both my electric and my acoustic when playing with the band. Overall, as I said I think it is an excellent value for the money!FOLLOW UP: After having the H1 for a couple weeks, I still think it is awesome, but I did experience the issue of accidentally hitting the knobs with my foot and changing the settings. Since the knobs are not recessed it's easy to do. Plus I think the switch is too small, meaning I have to look down to see where the button is while playing a song. It's very disctracting to have to do that...get to the end of a verse, look down, stomp on the switch for the chorus, look down again at the end of the chorus, etc. But I love the sounds I'm getting so I went to an electronics store and bought an $8 metal project box, and a $2 hinge. I cut up the box with a Sawzall, and cut down the lid to make a wide cover for the button. Now I can rest my foot against the edge of the pedal and push the switch without looking. Plus I can't hit the knobs. Cost me about $11, and about an hours work. Works great. I wish I could post a photo of it for anyone else who is interested in making one!

This little box is great. Easy to use, right out of the box. There are some other comments about the buttons being easy to hit, and changing the settings, but I haven't had that issue. There are more expensive harmonizers available, but I don't know that they would work any better than this one. So far, I'm totally pleased with my purchase.

I ordered this pedal from Amazon and was really looking forward to playing with it. I plugged it in and the harmonies sounded really nice. However, there was a constant digital noise that was louder when the vocals ran through it and trailed off after the vocal phrase was done. I play a lot of acoustic gigs, so there's a lot of open sonic space and I couldn't imagine the audience hearing this digital noise after every phrase I sing, so I returned it.Not sure if I got a defective unit, but this was my experience with the H1.

sucks. tried it every which way without predictable results. even when it's functioning as intended, doesn't necessarily sound good unless you turn the effects way down low.

TC Electronics just makes good stuff - and the VoiceTone H1 is no different. This doesn't have all the bells and whistles - I don't need them. What I DO need is a solid, dependable footswitch that I can run my guitar through to give me some harmonies, and this baby is spot on. Portable, powerful and the voices sound amazing. I don't do a solo or duo gig without it.
