This was exactly as described. It expands to a full four inches. I ordered the twin size after pricing all kinds of beds for large dogs - they are expensive, especially when you are searching for orthopedic support for aging dogs. So, instead of spending $300.00 at LL Bean (yes that is the cost for a top-rated, XL, basic orthopedic bed) I bought this twin size for $75.00 and a cover for about $40.00.The topper arrived yesterday, and I was impressed that there didn't seem to be an odor. It was compressed and had to be carefully cut out of the packaging, but it was easy to stretch out on my dining room table so it could expand. After about 15 minutes it was fully expanded so I measured my pup's current bed and cut the topper for bed one. Perfect fit in his old bed cover!I was surprised that the foam was so easy to cut. It was a little challenging - it is four inches high, but overall, not that hard taking it a little at a time.Now I am waiting on the cover I ordered from Amazon to arrive so I can make the second bed. I will have some left over and I may be able to make some type of pillow with the left-over foam. Who knows????So, for a little over $100.00 I will have two dog beds made with egg crate memory foam that is firm and soft at the same time. My 90lb Chocolate Labrador Retriever loves it! He is 13 and when he tried it out yesterday - he just crashed, stretched out, and slept so well. I hope this continues to help him because he was getting more and more restless during the night on his old bed.I am truly impressed with the quality of this foam topper. I have no idea of a rating for a human bed, but it was a great buy for a homemade doggie bed.

I bought this for my college dorm (rock hard mattresses oof). It works well and it's very soft. Don't know about the pain relief stuff since I dont have that kind of pain, but I slept well on it. It does get hot and kinda humid sometimes, even in dryer weather. The spike texture gets some time to get used to but afterwards it's fine.

No small, very comfortable, yet easy to move around on. I love it!

This was a great buy and works so well for my sons bed. I had tired others but they were such disappointments. This was perfect! The fit, size and comfort. Very much worth the price and it is standing up to my 5 year old and the dog. Definitely worth the purchase!

Although this mattress topper is very comfortable I recently discovered that this has been the source of years of back pain for me. The pain started a few months after buying this mattress topper but I could not pinpoint what was causing the pain, after all, this was a soft comfortable mattress to lie on, how could it cause me any pain? I think the main issue is that it does not give you the support you need and as a result can cause misalignment in one's spine over time. For me, it was causing pain in my lower back. After many visits with different chiropractors, my condition persisted and I didn't see any long-term improvement. I recently removed the mattress topper from my bed and to my surprise, my condition drastically improved after only a few days which led me to realize that all the pain I felt over the last 4 years may have been caused by the lack of support that this mattress topper failed to provide. I may be wrong about this but if anyone else has experienced any back pain I would urge them to consider removing this mattress topper just to see if their condition improves.

I saw a lot of mixed reviews for this topper not filling out or ripping, but ended up trying for myself anyway. I was not disappointed, this topper is extremely comfortable.To prevent tearing, be careful when opening the topper as it is folded on the eggshell side, let it breathe on a flat surface and fill out before any use. I believe many of the reviewers do so making it torn and disfigured. After a few hours it was fully formed at 4" peak height. I cannot say if the length and width are accurate, as I cut my down to fit my application. If you plan on cutting yours to size, flip over on the flat side, and use a very sharp fillet knife or something similar.First night trial I think I had my best sleep yet. It retains it's form and is not suffocating like most "memory foams" I've tried in the past. Reduced pressure points on the shoulders and hips for when I lay on my side. I also felt a improvement with back support as well.
