Perfect for holding my deck!
I installed this in my 1993 Buick Park Avenue, against the recommendation of Amazon. Metra's site suggested it would fit, so I went for it anyway. It fits. The only concern is that some of the hardware provided to hold the brackets was not only fiddly, but also did not inspire any confidence. If my deck was heavy, I would possibly scrutinize it a bit. Also be aware that there is nothing for the stereo locking tabs to grab on to on the bottom cubby hole. The stereo doesn't seem completely locked in. Also, the cubby is about the thickness of a CD Jewel case, an application specified as a selling point in the description. This thickness minimizes functionality. I was hoping for a place to shove my phone (Galaxy S7 Active in Unicorn Beetle Case), however it is not able to accommodate the girth of my phone. It would probably be a great place for the HU remote however, if it's very flat. I have chosen some components poorly on this installation, and will likely be revising some selections, however this kit will not be one of them. It also has holes in the back of the cubby, so it may be a place to run some auxiliary cables.

Bought this Metra 99-4000 Dash Kit to install a 1 DIN aftermarket stereo in my 1.5 DIN hole in my 95 Chevy Lumina.
I bought this dash kit to install an after market 1 DIN stereo in a 1.5 DIN hole. Fit perfect. Kit had every thing I needed but I recommend making it even more secure by using some rubber outdoor 2 sided tape to help secure the Din Cage into the Dash Kit. Be sure and place the bolts into the Dash Kit before installing the tape and DIN Cage into the Dash Kit. I used a female wiring harness wired to my stereo plug so all I had to do was plug it into my car's wiring harness plug, plug in the antenna, and push in the stereo until it snapped into place. Job Done. Compartment under the stereo is small but holds my remote or sunglasses fine. Looks good and works well. I would buy another one.

Custom-ish Install?
Bought this for a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. Now, it did not fit perfect at first for some odd reason. It may have not been made for my truck model, but I wanted the extra slot under the unit so I didn't bother to verify the adaptability. It came with a variety of side clips to attach to the square mold, based on your model. I tried the recommended one but it sat way too low, the dash cover was covering part of the unit. So it recommends that, on some applications, if the clips don't work you must use the base that is on the stock head unit. This was a little lengthier, but do-able. Finally got it on and now it would sit level with the dash cover cut out but now it was too deep into the dash, to where there was about a 2cm crack around the whole unit. To fix that I had to account for the difference, pull the clips that much further back and screw it into the Dash Kit adjusted with the difference. In the end, it actually came out looking really good. Better than I expected when running into all the problems. I do not recommend this, at least not for this model truck, if you want a simple and quick install. However, if you are willing to get crafty and deal with a stretched install time to have the extra slot under the unit, by all means go ahead. I personally am glad I was able to get this Dash Kit on. As for build quality, very sturdy and great color.

1999 Chevy Astro
This proved to be a great kit which I purchased on Amazon from HookedOnTronics. It's a 1.5 din, three model type radio specific kit, unlike others that look like a 150 piece Revell model kit trying to fit every make and year known to man. As such, I found the plastic to be thicker and sturdier than other kits I've dealt with. The sculpted molding for the dash opening(vs. the "flat-face" generic style) added to the structure of the main section as well, which also improves the aesthetics over generic kits. The under pocket adds to that aesthetic and is a bonus for storage of MP3 players or the remote, if the unit you're installing has one. The pocket is very thin, but only a few inches deep, so I don't expect many items to disappear beyond reach- though I wouldn't use it for coins!! After removing the "reinforcement" from the main opening with cutters and trimming with a hobby knife, I used HD double-sided adhesive tape(the thinner grey all-weather outdoor type) along the bottom edge to secure the stereo's mounting cage, as there is no place to bend the tabs due to the under pocket. I clamped the bottom edge using a bunch of 4 1/2" style spring clamps to allow the tape to "set" while waiting for other accessories to arrive for the installation. I do think that this is an obvious need for this kit, and some sort of adhesive strip should have been included in the first place. When time came for the physical install into the van, it could not have been simpler. I had also purchased the appropriate GM wiring harness(also made by Metra) and had prepared it ahead of time against the new unit's harness. Literally took less than 10 minutes from unlocking the door to listening to the new stereo. The Astro uses the longer "spring-lock" sides of the kit which attached solidly using the included screws and a nut-driver. The right side didn't seem to want to really lock into place, but it seemed more like an issue either with this particular van, or Astro's in general as the two sides were uneven with respect to the "spring arm" gap. With the fascia in place, it's solid as a rock, and looks like it's supposed to be there. What more can you ask for?

Great product
I bought this for my 2001 gmc jimmy. It fit perfectly with the clips they provided. One thing to say not ALL radios will fit this so don't get mad cause u buy it and ur radio do t fit..read the specs first. I got a cheep pioneer single din radio and it fit fine, easy install maby 10 min after u take ur dash apart. One thing I did not like is the little cubbyhole tray thing it's super small maby 3/4 in tall and it's smooth so if your going up hill ur phone will slide out but that's not a huge issue for me. Overall it was a great product!

I now have a working stereo that holds over 8000 songs, all because of this adapter. With room for a few napkins supplied by the local coffee shop too. The little pocket not much use for anything else. Excellent fit in my 99 Blazer, a few head scratching moments figuring out how to assemble it, but it now holds my inexpensive Pyle SD and USB flash drive capable radio. The included directions are good for a laugh but not much else.
