The transmitter has a 12v battery already installed in it and receiver requires 3 AA batteries (not included) Units new SMT low power consumption circuitry Under average usage allows batteries to last up to 3 years without requiring to be changes Most recording doorbells use lower cost low sample rate recording chips . This unit has one of the best quality recording chips with very clear rich sound.
