Clodagh Your Home, Your Sanctuary Hardcover – October 21, 2008

Book arrived in perfect condition and is a welcome site on my coffee table. This designer knows how to design with tranquility. Shipping was very fast as well. Totally pleased and have adopted many of her ideas in my new mid century home.

If you love serene spaces with sleek furnishings and contemporary lines, this book is the one for you. Clodagh's use of natural elements and strong, elegant lines, combined with rich textures create peaceful rooms that uplift and relax you. As an interior designer passionate about modern design that is warm and inviting, I was deeply inspired by this book. You'll love the fabulous photography. If you weren't a fan of modern interiors before you got this book, you will be by the time you finish it. My very favorite book for beautiful inspiration!Pangaea[...].

Clodagh has put together incredible photos with clear expressive writing to produce a gorgeous book about designing, living and enjoying your home. GREAT advice for professionals and amateurs. I loved her  Total Design: Contemplate, Cleanse, Clarify, and Create Your Personal Spaces  but this book is even better. Highly recommended for anyone contemplating improving their space, from rebuild to buying a new apartment or house, or for anyone who loves to look at beautiful modern design.

Really I think this book is quite good. I was debating between 4 and 5 stars. The book has good photos and good commentary about design. As far as inspiration, there is great inspiration. Lately I am preferring more of a Wabi Sabi look and the older work of this design studio has elements that I miss in this book, but I also like many of the new elements that are featured in this project. The Harlem terrace image that they did which one can find through google images is closer to what I was hoping for in a few places in the book.That said, this book and Total Design, the first book from the studio, are already significantly shaping how I think about space. Clodagh is definitely one of my long time favorite designers. I would love to eventually see a book from their company which would really be a five star book for me, and I think if they do another book it could well get to that point. I would certainly recommend the book to others who value natural design with a modern flair. It is definitely book I have enjoyed sharing with friends.

I am a fan of clean decorating and a minimal color palette. I do not like a lot of visual noise in my surroundings. In theory this book is very interesting but you really need to have this type of interior to create this style. I love the idea of incorporating spirituality in our homes and the Wabi Sabi philosophy because perfection is really unobtainable. There are ideas and lessons to learn from this book but I am now convinced that I need more warmth and personal touches in my home then this book would suggest. So that is one of the lessons that I learned from this book. To me some of the design comes off as almost industrial with a bit of paint and some color and a few decorative objects, very austere and that would be perfect for the person who craves that environment.

This is a very pretty book. You will enjoy looking at the beautiful pictures, and get wonderful decorating ideas to bring into your home. It is a nice coffe table book. It "is" a book you can get at the library though, and enjoy it just as much! :)
