Not cat proof! (joking a bit here)
The movement is nice but ours took a fall due to being a cat magnet. Now it needs a light tap on the side once the switch is on to start, but it does keep running after that. It wasn’t a big fall, only a bit over a foot, but that was enough to do internal damage to the motor, all the other solder joints etc checked out upon inspection. It would be nice if you could turn off the led but a bit of tape solves that.

Realistic butterfly in a jar
Item was as described. Works perfectly. This is the second one I've bought. I love these they are so cute. If you didn't know better you'd think they were real.

Nice but lacks enthusiasm!
Very nice. Except it doesn't flutter around as well as the other one I use to have. It doesn't react as agression as a real butterfly would be if it was trapped in a jar! And this is the second one I got. The first one wouldn't even open up and separate the wings. Flew around lop sided.But it's still fun to watch and the cats like it.

a little glitchy
My 9 yr old autistic son loves it though. We leave it in the on position and it will shut off automatically after a bit. He uses it as a nightlight when he goes to sleep. Sometimes it doesn't seem to do anything at all...I think the wire needs to be moved a bit so if you gently shake the jar or even just turn it upside down and then right side up it will move on its own again.

Pretty Disappointed
Bought this as a Christmas gift back in August so the 30 day return window has long since closed. Now I wished that I had opened it upon receipt to try it out.A relative has one and it works great. The latest versions however now have a little blue light inside the lid to better see the butterfly with, but it illuminates and reflects off the wire.Furthermore, the butterfly does not flutter around very well, and usually plasters itself against the glass and flops back forth with both wings closed. It will also tangle itself on the wire in the middle of the jar. Not even close to mimicking a real butterfly.

Got the wrong color
It is a good product but I ordered the yellow butterfly and got the blue one. My son still loves it but I was bummed I got the wrong one. The box even said yellow but there was a blue one inside. My son is adhd and I thought he would enjoy the brighter yellow over the dark blue.
