Great compact shortwave receiver with SSB capability
This is a good basic shortwave receiver with SSB bolted on as a bonus, good basic receiver. If you're looking for an entry level shortwave receiver with SSB then this is it, it comes with a long wire option and AM ferrite bar antenna. Sound quality is ok, it's a very small radio, the radio also has a headphone socket. The radio accepts 3 AA cells, you can also use Ni-Mh cells if you prefer. The radio does not have a selectable bandwidth option. Downsides with this radio are, tuning isn't the quickest, it's best used in scan mode where the radio will stop on strong signals, it also has an ETM mode which scans and stores live stations in memory to be recalled later, and memory management is quite easy. It has separate memory banks for AM shortwave and SSB shortwave, and quick band jumps in SSB mode jump between amateur radio bands, and in AM mode jumps between broadcasting bands to make it easier. There are radios out there that do some things better but this radio is a great value for money option.

An amazing little receiver
Very surprised at this small receivers performance. Its sensitivity is good even with it short telescopic antenna. FM and SW broadcast stations are easy to find. The buttons on the front panel are small and do take a bit of getting used to. I particularly liked the ability to choose USB or LSB and obtain fine tuning for SSB reception is extremely useful.

Great but badly flawed with regards to searching for stations.
A great little SW set, but pretty much spoiled by that he fact that its not continuous tuning. What I mean by that is if you’re searching around for stations you have to stop after every increment, every 1MHz, because it doesn’t continuously tune and you can’t hear anything until you’ve stopped searching up. This is bad for a SW radio, especially when you’re searching SSB for a station. My other Tecsun is fine. You can turn the knob and are able to hear continuously while you’re in the progress of tuning up/down. What this one you can’t. So it makes searching slow and a chore. Such a shame Tecsun !!You haven’t got any treble/bass controls, wide/narrow filter or any DX attenuate switch, so it falls short of being a capable receiver. Shame.

Very pleased with my decision to purchase, loved it
Loved it. It did all I expected and more. Came to life on the HF frequencies when I connected an external aerial to it.Only criticism:Would have liked the ferrite antenna to be selectively enabled for TopBand frequencies and higher.

Good All band radio with SSB
The only area that is lacking is a variable tuning speed. This has to be done using memories. Otherwise you have to tune in 10Khz steps.
