If you are smoking a paper cigarette, it will likely cut down on odor, but if you are aiming for all or nothing this will not mask your use of substances that produce smoke. If you are consuming paper cigarettes, that is. This is also good for vaping. Vapers will say that vape doesn't need filtering because there is no smell. This is not true. The smell is attenuated but also different and it depends on the vitality of the material you are using. I breathe in through my nose and exhale three times, so that no traces of smoke escape from my lungs nose or pharynx. I've been buying these forever. They work exactly as advertised, and eliminate all smoke and odor from that smoke that you blow through the filter. The total life of the filter varies widely by the rate you use it daily. We get about 40 days of quality usage, and as a household we probably use the filter 16 to 20 times a day. I say quality because you could keep using it, but it gets harder to blow through. At some point you'll get a headache and that's when you stop - about 60 days for us. If I used one personally and didn't share, I'd get a solid 6 to 9 months.
