Better than expected
I was hesitant to buy this given the bad reviews online, but I bought it anyways because of the price and the small quantity as I had a small project - I am making a dice tray. I bought the Red Mahogany and used it on balsa wood that I first conditioned with Varathane wood conditioner. I initially expected the color to be a brighter red but the color I ended up with looks much better. It was a bit difficult to get an even coating and I had to do a few layers, but the end result speaks for itself.

Perfect finish in a can!
Picked up a wood laminate desk from the buy nothing project in my area. Originally it was a honey pine finish. Knowing wood laminate is slightly more fragile than solid wood, my refinishing strategy was limited. After a light sanding, I used this in a mahogany and this desk is now perfect! Great verathane spray!

not a reliable product.
Ordered this product twice, both times it wouldn't spray. feels pressurized and tip looks good, but push it down and nothing. the second sprayed a little, but spattered mostly then stopped.

Not recommended for some wood
Certain wood just makes an irreversible mess. Recommend staining and varnishing the old fashioned way.

This is the best
Oil based dries MUCH harder and scratch resistant than water-based. So it is worth the inconvenience of using mineral spirits for cleanup.

I'd never buy it again. It's not bad but the web site description was incomplete and what I got wasn't what I thought I'd get. I'm not saying they misrepresented the product. It's just that they left out enough information and I was gullible enough that "they got me." It is just a spray on poly that has some color to it. The word "stain" is misleading.

OVERALL A BAD EXPERIENCE
Beware!!! The service of these spray can sellers is not good, or then the spray can itself is of bad quality. The can I bought doesn’t spray AT ALL. Either the can was faulty or it’s shelf life was over, hence I can’t gauge ”ease of use”; ”value for money” doesn’t seem promising.

Didn't spray!
Nothing came out of the spray can, even though the button on top could be pressed down. Probably an exception, but have had to ask for a replacement and hope the replacement is okay.
