This Wi-Fi adapter dongle by Techkey is an exceptional USB device which vastly improved my laptop’s ability to access Wi-Fi signals in locations that would otherwise be too far from the signal source to register.A mini CD is provided to install the drivers and software. After installation, the installation process puts a blue and white icon on the start menu. When I run mini CD, the software did not start automatically start after installation, so I had to follow the instructions in the booklet to find the set up file. Setup is generally quite awkward, but well worth persevering with it, as this is a great unit. A physical (paper) instruction booklet of 45 pages is included, but it comes in quite small text. I found, however, that I only needed the first 5 pages.After installation, the moment the adapter was connected, an increased list of possible Wi-Fi networks was populated under the “Available Networks” tab of the accompanying software’s main window.I'm using this adapter with my laptop, running on the laptop’s battery, where the laptop is situated at a distance of around 50 metres from the nearest Wi-fi source, and it’s working really well with what feels like good Wi-Fi service.The unit comes with two aerials which have to be attached to the main unit, but this is very easy to do. The aerials can point in a variety of directions, but the unit seems to work best with the aerials in the upright position - which admittedly looks a little conspicuous, but the appearance is a worthwhile trade-off for the Wi-Fi connectivity and signal strength it will give you. I highly recommend this dongle.
