very legit
This thing is legit. 99% of the speakers in this category are just weak af. This speaker puts out solid bass that you can feel, and clean clear sound... and it is not weak at all; it is nice and loud. I have had mine for years now and it still works great. i use android devices, so i cannot use the wireless feature (apple airplay), but that is ok. i have used this with my phone, my computer... i keep it connected to my android tv box most of the time now.

Terrible buy.
Terrible. Don't waste your money. Didn't even power on. Returned it for a new one. It powers on but can't keep an airplay connection for more than a couple songs.

Great functions and options.... if they worked properly
I ended up getting this on sale at Fry's for much cheaper than it is listed at Amazon. At first, it worked great! Set up to work on my wifi was SUPER easy and took less than 30 seconds. The sound quality when playing thru wireless was decent to good overall, pretty solid for the price that you're paying. After about a week or so, the wireless signal would cut out occasionally, just a minor inconvenience. Now, it cuts out very frequently to the point that this feature is now unusable. Now, I can really only use it if I'm plugging my device into it directly, which defeats the purpose of me getting this in the first place. Also, I've noticed a small "hiss" when whatever I'm playing is quiet or in between songs. Not a deal breaker as you don't notice when something is playing.I have since exchanged it for the same product, thinking that I just had one defective product, but I had the exact same results. It worked great for about a week, then I started having the same problems.Considering I got this brand new for only $40, I guess I don't have much to complain about since I got what I paid for. This had the potential to be a great product for a great price, but it left me disappointed in the end.

Muddy sound, unreliable WiFi
I purchased a "Tango Air" today, new ... for $50 at Frys. Setting up the Wi-Fi to work with my iPhone 4 was fairly easy, once I actually read and followed the manual instructions. Unfortunately, the PDF version at xtrememac.com's website is all graphics, no searchable text (inexcusable!). It took several attempts to get the unit to "learn" my Wi-Fi settings from the iPhone. (I was unaware that iOS has an option to "share" Wi-Fi settings with units it's connected to via a USB cable ... the phone, after I gave it permission, told the Tango Air how to logon to our WPA2 Wi-Fi system.)Once connected, with both the Tango Air and the iPhone sitting three feet from the high-end (and essentially idle) WAP, I noticed many dropouts ... instances where the streaming would stop for half a second or so and then resume. Highly annoying, rendering the Wi-Fi streaming useless to me.I listened to the Tango Air for several hours, and was surprised at how "muddy" / muffled the sound was. I expected better, and I'll be returning it.For people looking for how to "teach" the Tango Air your Wi-Fi settings: Turn on the Tango Air, plug your iPhone / iPad in via the USB charging cable (the Tango will, as a bonus, charge your iOS device). Press the "Setup" button on the back of the Tango Air. That should trigger a pop-up on your iOS device, asking you for permission to share your settings with the Tango... tap "yes/allow/okay/yep". After about 10 to 30 seconds, the status LED (next to "Setup", above the tiny "reset" button) should switch from red to green. If it doesn't, press "reset" and try again. Once it's green, your iOS's music player app should have a weird "bowling lane" icon. (a rectangle with a triangle in the lower front, looking for all the world like a bowling lane after I've made a 'strike!' :). Tapping on that should get a list of output devices (e.g., "iPhone", "Tango Air #####"). Tap on "Tango Air". The sound won't be instantaneous ... the Tango buffers up a few seconds of data before starting to play.

Had this and it was working great. Somewhere along the way in updating iOS
No longer works, cannot find any support.Had this and it was working great. Somewhere along the way in updating iOS, and the Tango no longer can be found by my iPhone 6. I cannot find any support link on the web. There is a long string on an apple message board of many many users that have this problem.

Look Elsewhere
This review does not address the airplay ability, but only the sound quality. I went to Fry's Electronics and listened to the speaker. I connected my iPhone to the speaker with an audio cable through its auxiliary connection. The speaker was on sale for $69 so I was inclined to want it to perform. But giving it every benefit of the doubt (e.g., it's not the same listening to them in the cavernous shopping center as a small bedroom), they just did not measure up. I could go on about the lack of sonic quality at the low end and the high and the lack of clarity, but suffice it to say that it did not come close to the (non-airplay) Bose C2 speakers for $99, which I used as a reference at Fry's the same night. So if airplay ability is the only thing that matters to you, and you don't much care what sound you get at the other end as long as you recognize the song, then you might want to wait for the review of the airplay ability. But if you have even minimal standards of the sonic quality of the music you listen to, you'll will want to move on and start looking elsewhere confident that these are not for you.
