These work GREAT for monitoring/managing/rebooting flaky routers/access points/devices, absolute life saver. I have a pretty complicated spread out home network with some access points and devices way out in fringe locations and my numerous Keep Connects reliably keep everything online. People seem to focus most on this device's automatic ability to reset your router if it drops connectivity -- that's a great capability -- but with the pretty-cheap premium subscription you can remotely control any Keep Connect to trigger a power cycle on anything you want -- this is unbelievably/miraculously helpful if you have a critical wifi-connected device that sometimes disconnects (e.g. when your internet service/main router/etc. cycle off for 5 seconds at 2AM and that remote device then fails to reconnect). Via the subscription web portal you can quickly verify that the Keep Connect that device is plugged in to IS connected and send a power-cycle command forcing the remote device to reboot and reconnect -- I have a 100% success rate with recovering connectivity to ornery devices that otherwise would have been a big hassle to deal with. I see some negative comments about setup/ease-of-use -- this is probably not the device for grandma who gets wifi mixed up with bluetooth, you need to initially connect to the device's wifi signal and configure it manually with a browser -- if you have moderate technical proficiency these are EXCELLENT devices, quick easy one-time setup and they run stable for years. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This thing is a game changer. Many times, if you need a device like this, you've got a bigger problem going on with your internet or equipment. I'm pretty sure that's the case with me. However, until I figure that out, I'm tired of my internet cutting out right when I'm in the middle of my vacation, rendering my cameras useless while I'm 1,000 miles away from home. Setup is easy. I did not buy the app service. I simply set it up to text me when it does a reset. That's exactly what it did and it reset my router and I was back up and running in no time. In fact, the cameras didn't even send out the offline notification. For the price, yes, get it. It's peace of mind. In the long run, I'm going to look at DNS conflicts coupled with an aging gateway modem router but until that happens, I'm happy with this unit.

Update 2/19/25 - It’s been over 4 years and the 254 resets that Keep Connect has performed have kept my connection available every singe one of those days. That’s a phenomenal accomplishment. Bravo Zulu Keep Connect! Update: 8/7/23 - It’s been over 2.5 years and Keep Connect has worked flawlessly. I’ve not experienced any prolong outages since deploying it. Sure beats having to drive 150 miles every month or so to reset my router as I had to do before Keep Connect. Update: 11/16/22 - I’ve been using Keep Connect for almost 2 years now. It’s working better and more often than ever. I recently switched from a mom and pop AT&T bandwidth reseller to T-Mobile’s Home Internet. My old connection almost never went down so I would go months without Keep Connect having to do its thing. This T-Mobile connection has many more problems and Keep Connect is sometimes kicking in several times a day to keep the connection up. I appreciate this device more than ever. Update: 8/28/22 - another year has passed and Keep Connect is still working flawlessly for me. More importantly, my remote connection has remained available. Update 4: 7/15/2021 - Keep Connect has been working for me as advertised for about 7 months. I have it set to power cycle my LTE router once a week and it has handled the occasional connectivity issues just fine. No complaints at all. Update 3: 1/27/2021 - In a previous update, I mentioned that you can set Keep Connect to automatically cycle power on a particular day and time. Turns out that isn’t entirely accurate. On a Tuesday I set mine to automatically cycle power every 7 days at 10:00am. One might think that this would cycle power every Tuesday at 10 :00am thereafter. However, what it actually seems to do is to cycle power seven days from the previous power cycle. So if Keep Connect cycled power on a Saturday (unscheduled) due to a connectivity issue, the next automatic scheduled power cycle would be seven days from Saturday, unless of course their is another unscheduled event in the meantime. Update 2: 1/9/2021 - My LTE internet connection had some hiccups this morning, which Keep Connect recognized and in response power cycled my router. The power cycle did reestablish the connection. The text I received when this happened is attached. Bumped my original 4 star rating to a 5. Update: 1/5/2021 - I have my Keep Connect setup to automatically power cycle my router every Tuesday at 10:00am. That functionality seems to work as advertised. I received a text message from them informing me of the auto reset. I am using this device to keep an LTE-based internet connection up at a remote cabin. Before purchasing this device, I tried several different but similar devices, none of which worked for more than a few months. These other devices were more brute force. They simply cycled power on a device on a predetermined schedule. Keep Connect differs from those other devices in that it is intended to join a WiFi network and monitor it for certain connectivity issues. It then is supposed to power cycle the device plugged into it in response to those connectivity issue. It does also have the capability to cycle power on a schedule. The included configuration documentation and the information provided on their website is pretty sparse. When you first plug-in the Keep Connect device, it creates a new, temporary WiFi network to join in order to configure the device. When you connect to that temporary SSID (I used an iPad), a configuration page will automatically pop up in a web browser. From this configuration page you select Configure WiFi and then on the subsequent page, select the Wi-Fi network’s SSID you want the device to join and monitor. You will also need to provide your WiFi network password. You can also provide a cell phone number for Keep Connect to send texts to on certain events, such as when it power cycles your router. I left all other options on the main configuration page at default values. I suggest you also select the Advance Configuration option at this point. From the Advance Configuration section you can select a schedule to power cycle your device, among other options. If you later want to change any of the configuration options, you must hit the main button on the front of the device and reconfigure from scratch. It’s not a difficult or time-consuming process though. Once you save your configuration, you should receive an automated text message from Johnson Creative (assuming you entered your cell phone number) which lets you know that their back-end set up is complete. It also provides a code which can be used from their website to remotely query your device. None of the information returned from this functionality was sensitive, but you should be aware that Johnson Creative is remotely communicating with your Keep Connect device. The information returned is essentially the date and time of previous power cycles and a timestamp of the last time they communicated with your KeepConnect device. I intend to update this review once I know that it consistently does what it claims. The reason for my initial 4 star review is that I currently lack that information.

Easy to set up. No app required. Plug in and connect to the wifi network, and settings comes up. Entered wireless network information easily enough, it connected right away. Was setting this up for my 90 yr old grandmother, so I decided to unplug it from the wall, wait a few seconds and plug it back in ... and I ALMOST didn't do this because I assumed such a BASIC function would be well designed. Nope. Plug it back in and it just flashes yellow. Forever. Requires manually pressing the button, connecting to the interface, and clicking "Save" on the ALREADY ENTERED settings. Then, voila, it instantly is reconnected. It'd be nice and automatic. If it weren't a MANUAL process. Thought, I'll check their site for firmware updates. I can see the current firmware name and chipset information, but in all their wisdom decided not to provide the downloads in an easily accessible area. Instead, there's a broken web form that does nothing. Tried 3 different computers. If you're into tech like I am, if a bigger device doesn't bother you then just go with the Digital Loggers brand. They've been around forever, firmware downloads on their website, and solid as a rock. Thought it'd be overkill for this situation. If they get it together it will be a nice product. And maybe it would work great if you live in a perfect world with no power outages. But I even tried killing my Wi-Fi signal to make sure it would reconnect. Nope. I was trying to get this set up for my grandmother before a flight in a few hours, so she wouldn't be without Internet if her connection went down, while I was out of town. Sorry, Grandma. Think we're better off without this for now. UPDATE: I had preconfigured this at my place before going to where it was to be installed. Added an identical SSID/password to my router for preconfiguration purposes. While it would not connect to my Wi-Fi without going through settings (I have Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi 6 and 7 APs), but once I did it would instantly connect as I said.... When I tested at my grandmother's place, situated super-close to the router, it fired up fine and connected. So, it's possible that this was due to Wi-Fi congestion at the condo I'm in. I was testing it about 10 feet from the Wireless AP at my place. I just still find it strange that, if I connected to it in AP mode to get to the setup process, and hit "Save", it would connect at my place within 5 seconds. If it can connect like that, it should be able to do so on its' own. IMO. Guess this is a situation where YMMV. Great concept and fills a definite need. Amazing that the Kasa/etc haven't added this as a feature to their plugs. (For me, I have the UniFi Smart Plug that's like $20 when in stock, but it requires UniFi hardware. It works great though.) There is only one bad thing with this device: It blocks your other socket. This is so annoying! I can believe that they missed this! The good: Everything else. The set up is trivial. You plug it in and then plug your router into the device. If you have a router and modem, use a power strip and then plug the power strip into it. The configuration doesn't require any app, which is great. And it's brilliant. You use your phone to connect to a temporary network that is created by the device when you first plug this in. I think that it's called "KeepConnect". As soon as you connect, you'll be presented with a setup for the device. As part of that setup, you have the option to choose a Username and Password. After you finish the setup, this "KeepConnect" wifi network will be shutdown and from then on, you will use your own home's network to connect to the device. This is great because if that wifi network were left open, pretty much anyone near your home could connect and mess with your network. This way, no one can do that. This is a really smart bootstrapping. This thing is very configurable. Either the first time that you connect to the temporary network or later on when you connect to the device from your home network, you can change tons of setup: You can choose your home network. You can get phone or email notifications when there is a wifi failure. You can choose which websites will get checked to confirm that wifi is working, and how often. You can choose if to just reboot the router/modem, or the device, or just do nothing (in case you just want the notification). You can choose how often it checks, how long to turn off power, how long to wait after reboot until checking again, how many retries until giving up, etc. You can set it to reboot regularly. You can have it update its software from the internet. You can trigger a router reboot from your phone. You can use multiple devices and have one of them control the other ones. ...It's really a ton of configuration. You can go nuts or just use the defaults and it'll probably work fine, too. All this is *without* paying for the monthly service. Now, if you pay for the yearly service then KeepConnect's servers can do more for you: KeepConnect's servers can tell your device to reboot, even when you're not in your home. Without their server, you can't reboot from afar. Usually you only get the notification after the internet in your home comes up because how is the device supposed to email you while there's no internet in your home, right?! But with the server, it can check on your home regularly and send you an email even before your internet comes back up. The servers will keep statistics on your devices. So it's not just a money grab. The service fee pays for those KeepConnect servers that are running to keep tabs on your device. KeepConnect really did a great job here on the device. The biggest gripe, by far, is that the device is keeping me from using the other socket. Hopefully they'll fix this, it's such an oversight! If you pay for the yearly service fee then your device will connect to KeepConnect's servers. This will let you connect to your device even when you're outside your home so that you can monitor your devices from afar. Think about it: If you internet goes down, how is the device going to send you an email about it while you don't have internet?! It can only email you when it comes back up. But if you have the cloud service then the cloud service can connect to your device and check on it regularly, sending you an email from the cloud if there is trouble. This will work even if your home doesn't have internet.

If you're the type of person who pays for convenience, then the Keep Connect is truly a game changer. For the most part, all routers/gateways need regular resetting. You might notice that. your internet cuts out every once in a while, and a simple reboot generally fixes the problem. That's because ultimately, it's a device that is trying to run 24/7, but needs to reset every once in a while to function properly. So in comes the Keep Connect. A device that you can program and regularly schedule a reset. The setup is simple. You plug the Keep Connect in, and then you plug your router/gateway into the Keep Connect, then on your phone you connect to the Keep Connect's wifi SSID, and a configuration page should come up. There you can program your desired settings. Can you cheap out and get a smart outlet to do this? Sure. I tried using a Kasa, but it's not perfect. The beauty of the Keep Connect is that my internet will occasionally cut out mid-day, despite my regularly programmed resets every 3 days. Keep Connect is able to monitor this, and automatically resets the router for you. This is something a typical smart outlet like Kasa does not do. If you are willing to walk to your router, unplug and replug it every time it cuts out mid-day to save a couple of bucks, then the Keep Connect is not for you. For someone like me who cannot be bothered to figure out if my internet cut out and does not want to climb around to unplug/replug, the Keep Connect is definitely worth its price.

exactly what was needed. Simple. I didn't need tons of features I'll never use. I get notification when internet has been out and restored. Reliable. Love it! Price was great too.

An absolute game-changer! I can't believe I only discovered the Keep Connect Router Wi-Fi Reset Device now. Dealing with sporadic Wi-Fi issues for years, especially with my security cameras and alarm system losing connection, was a constant hassle. The stress peaked whenever I traveled abroad and my Wi-Fi would disconnect, leaving me anxious and forcing me to trouble relatives to reset it to reactivate my security systems. This ingenious device automatically recognizes a Wi-Fi dropout and resets it. It's like it was plucked right out of my dreams! It's already proven its worth during a recent Wi-Fi outage. The device swiftly detected the lost connection, cycled the power, and had my Wi-Fi operational in under five minutes. I also subscribed to their cloud service for a nominal annual fee of $25, adding an extra layer of convenience and remote control. Kudos to Johnson Creative for this innovative solution!

This device operates like an external "Watchdog" automatically resetting the modem or router if connectivity is lost. Using their subscription service, also allows me to remotely reboot them as is sometimes necessary to reestablish connections with other connected devices like thermostats, cameras and the like, saving travel to remote locations as had previously been necessary. It works well and highly recommend.
