Walton's Thumb Fisherman's Multi Tool

I just purchased 2 more of this awesome fishing multi-tool: one as a replacement for one lost while fishing, and the other as a gift. I think this multi-tool is great, and worth every penny. I use it all of the time, even in place of my regular line nippers. It's not much bigger than a pair of nail clippers but it includes several handy fishing tools in one neat little package. Instead of carrying multiple tools fishing you can carry just this one and have a knife, scissors, split shot crimper and opener, nippers, and a split ring opener, just to name a few. It really saves space, especially if you are hiking into your fishing destination. Whether you fly fish or spin fish, this tool is indis-pensible. Just make sure you have it hooked to a lanyard or zinger in case you drop it; you won't want to lose it, which is what happened to my original one, hence the replacement. I read a couple of reviews that commented that it should be bigger, but I disagree. It's meant to be a fine multi-tool for fishing needs, not a heavy duty item that I'd use for wilderness survival. It's a great multi-tool, at a great price, in a good sized package.

Nipper can be a little awkward to use but far out weighed by having so many of the tool one needs (split shot crumper/opener, eye cleaning needle, etc). Great compact little tool. Great gift for fly fisherman.

So I received it and opened it up. I decided to change my leader on my fly line with it. The first thing I did was ATTEMPT. To cut the leader off. The clippers edge just bent over, It could not cut the leader, this was just regular 5lb test tapered leader. So there you go, I cannot recommend this to anybody. Thats the one thing I will use the most..... For the price I could have bought a budget knife that would cut the line.

The walton's thumb is the best pocket tool for any angler. I do have an original walton's thumb which my father passed down to me. I would rate the original a 5/5. This product is very comparative to the original. There are some differences between the original and this reproduction. At first glance the metal thickness is thinner and more flexible compared with the original. I use the clippers the most and was disappointed with how dull they were compared to my original with over 30 yrs of line clipping! Another suttle change is the logo is finely etched or painted on the reproduction whereas the original is embossed into the metal. It is lightweight and fits great in any pocket or tackle box. It also has a nice D ring on the end for a lanyard attachment. Overall, just slightly disappointed, mainly because of the dull clippers. However I rate this a 4/5 because I will be using this instead of my original. The original will be put away in a safe place to make a great fisherman a collector item

Great tool to have handy - numerous applications and we’ll worth the investment. I may buy several more….

This is a great little gadget that I was referred to in a video sometime back. So I bought two: one for me, and one for a gift. I've used it each time I'm out on the river. Very handy. And the vendor delivered them right away, too.
