Consistently defective product
I'm using these to make about 100 little mushroom paintings, and I've bought 4 packs so far. Of the 58 paintings I've done, 8 have spontaneously cracked at the top under the screw eye (see picture) after being painted. To say the least, it's disappointing, and a good reason to steer clear of this product. I'm in the process of returning the cracked ones, but plan to continue using these to complete my project and just make peace with the fact that a certain percentage of the work I do will just spontaneously destroy itself. Honestly very grim.

Great value, Great quality
My kids loved these. They come unfinished and were a great value for the price. We chose to paint them for ornaments and every one of them were were perfectly cut and put together. All 5 of my very different kids enjoyed this craft. Gonna buy again for sure.

Cracked discs
I was excited to find ones that the hooks were included but a bunch of the discs are cracked where the hooks were screwed in and I’m afraid the others will crack after some use. I think it would have been better if I bought ones that had the holes drilled instead.

They always crack.
I’ve ordered from Senmut multiple times and have never had an order that hasn’t cracked. I went to seal all of these hoping to keep them whole and within an hour they split. Can’t seem to find any wood slices (whether drilled hole/no hole/or eyelet screw) they all split upon any paint/sealer hit them. Or if your really lucky they split all by their natural selves.

Best wooden ornaments out there!
Best ever wooden ornaments I’ve bought in years!!! This teacher LOVED how easy the tense to tie the provided ribbon with the ring screwed in the ornament already!!!

Horrible
I had ordered these before with no issue but this time they cracked down the center as the paint dried. Literally they are cracking by the dozen, this is so disappointing and I would not recommend. This product is obviously being produced cheaper and cheaper sadly.

Most are ok, some are cracking.
Disappointed as quite a few have cracked down the center where the hook is. Have to throw those away. It looks bad and makes the hook too loose.

Quality not what was expected
Realizing that these are natural wood products, there were still flaws on several of the discs. By this I mean discolored sections, bark missing on several of the discs, and some were miss-shaped and oval.

Incredible for DIY, but split!
We have a laser printer and used these for a seating plan! Absooutey gorgeous and have such a rustic look and feel! However, unless treated, as you can see in the picture, and you need to use resin, not just varnish, they will split around the place where the in is screwed in once they start properly drying! Due to their size, it is impossible to avoid it by keeping them on their side, as you would do with larger log slices, but if you treat them with resin, it will stop them from splitting! For the price however - highly recommended!

Really nice wooden disks!
Really good base for pyrography. It's very lightweight and you do have to be quite careful with it as the bark does come off quite easily, but I just glued it back on. They are all nice and rustic and good value for money. Easy to draw on and all similar sizes.

Good quality pine log slices
I love the rustic look of these and they are a great size for making tree ornaments. They’ve been well cut and there’s no must smell coming from them which shows they’ve been dried out properly. Some of the screw in hooks are a bit small but I can change those myself. There’s a choice of 2 strings to use with them. I like that they arrived in a thick ziplock bag, it keeps the inevitable mess from bark contained. I would recommend opening these on some newspaper or a surface you can easily clean as these are natural slices and there’s loose bark pieces.I ordered them for practicing wood burning skills but the tool I got was overheating. The stencils that came with it will be useful for using with acrylic paint pens though, so I plan to use these to make Christmas ornaments with my great-nephews and nieces before Christmas. There’s plenty here for them to have lots of fun. At the current price these work out at 45 pence each, I think that’s really good value for good quality log slices. Even allowing for craft materials, you can make good quality ornaments much cheaper than I’ve seen log slice ornaments selling for.

Great price for decent quality.
I’ve used wood slices quite regularly for various crafts. I purchased some that are to be honest appalling quality and I’ve also bought some really good ones. For the price these compare favourably with the good ones. They are under £10 at the point of writing this review. So you get 20 slices of wood which do measure between 7 and 8 centimetres. One was fractionally over 8 cm. Have a look at what this actually looks like on a tape measure as they are small. The bark is in situ and they come in a little plastic zip bag to keep everything tidy. I’ve just shown half of mine in the photo so you can see up close the grain and quality. I did get them all out and none of them have splits in which is a common fault I’ve previously come across with wood slices. A couple have little gouges in which I will be able to sand paper out or fill if I paint them. I always give them a further careful sand as I’ve found it gives a better finish but if you do this be careful not to knock off the bark as this enhances your finished craft. You will only need a fine sandpaper as they are already quite smooth. I am intending to turn these into Xmas tree decorations as they are small and lightweight. Some will be dot painted on both sides, some I will paint little pictures on and some I will use for pyrography. They come with two types of twine, I really like the red and white one for Xmas but the rustic twine would look good too. Each slice has a small eyelet screwed into it ready to hang your finished piece. You could take these out if you want to make little mats to go under candles etc. I will definitely be varnishing mine when finished. The bark does have a tendency to drop off all wood slices and I’ve found that putting on varnish helps things stay in place. They are soft wood so will burn easily so if you are using pyrography start on a lower heat and build up. Fortunately the grain is fairly close so that makes life easier. For anyone who enjoys crafting these can be turned into lots of different pieces depending on what you enjoy doing. They would make lovely little gifts when finished or you could make bottle labels, name tags, inspirational hangers. Whatever you fancy turning your hand to. Kids would love decorating these as little gifts and if you varnish them with outdoor varnish you could hang them in your trees or make a wind chime. Definitely really good value for money and no wastage as all mine were perfectly usable. Id definitely buy this brand and am happy to recommend them. Just check your sizing so you know what you will be getting.
