Python No Spill Clean and Fill Aquarium Gravel Tube, 24-Inch

We have been using the Python for about a year I think so far and after using another brand for quite a few years, this one is superior in performance with ONE exception. The tube is too small for our tanks larger than 29, and we had to replace ALL GASKETS with pink rubber gaskets that you use for garden hoses. Otherwise the system leaked. HOW DOES THIS PERFORM IN OUR LARGER TANKS? This attachment makes cleaning the larger tanks a breeze. Originally purchased for a 75 gallon tank I have yet to set up, this attachment makes cleaning our 36 bow front and 29 gallon tank much easier. We also use the green hook over the top to refill the water, which is a pretty quick change. It will be handier for the 75 gallon tank which will need more refill water. WARNING One word of warning- make sure you replace the black gasket in this attachment with a rubber garden hose gasket (those pink ones). If you don't it will leak. We have done this to the entire system and it changed it from an almost return to a fantastic system. No leaks and quite sturdy. THE BOTTOM LINE Great for larger tanks, this attachment works great and is easier to handle so that your hands are not submerged into the tank the entire time. As long as the gasket is replaced with the rubber kind that you use for garden hoses, it works like a charm. Without the replacement, it leaks. FIVE STARS- LOVE this size for our bigger tanks, and the easy swapability with the green hook for refilling larger tanks.

The first thing to comment on is that this item is LONG. Very long and it works perfectly. I have always had gravel cleaners that were short and I had to get my arm into the water to sift through the gravel. It worked but not without the need for a towel close at hand. Not so for this guy. He is longer than my 55 gallon aquarium is tall and since I no longer have gravel but sand on the bottom of the tank this not only keeps my arm dry but gives the sand more room to filter out the sediment without the sand going through the tube and down the drain. I recommend this to all fellow aquarium enthusiasts.

I used this on my 32 gal tank. You might be thinking that such a large tube is over the top for cleaning. No no no. I beg to differ. This size is ideal for cleaning the gravel & let me inform you that this puppy will definitely clean your aquarium like it has never been cleaned before. The difference of my tank after one, just one use, is night & day. Of course changing out the filters helps clarify the water, but the transformation is truly remarkable. I should of had this years ago. I also took the measure of removing all the river rock in the bottom so no hindrance existed in cleaning the gravel. Great product if you want to seriously clean your aquarium w/o the task becoming labor intensive.

This is great if you have a high tank. My tank is 20" high and the tube extends about 5" pass my water line. No need to remove the canopy as I can tilt the tube sideways and still don't get my hands wet. The vinyl hose is only about 30" which isn't long. You will need the kit/system or an additional hose to use it. It can connect to a regular garden hose. If you have a longer inner diameter vinyl hose of 1/2", you can remove the supplied hose and attach the new hose or buy a male adapter and attach it to the new hose by screwing it to the supplied hose which I did. You can buy the Pro Cleaner version with the 6' hose (it doesn't come with the female adapter) but I had an extra vinyl hose and adapter so it was a lot cheaper this way. A matter of fact, it's cheaper to buy this version and buy the vinyl hose at Home Depot (10' hose) for under $5 or the thicker one (like the one this one come with) for under $7. And that's 10' versus 6' of hose and it's less than Pro Cleaner version. Or buy the 5/8" id with 100' hose for $10 along with an adapter for under$1 and now you can run it through your house for all under $25. Some say it vacuums too fast. It does suck up a lot of debris/water quickly but if you need to slow it down all you do is bend the vinyl hose and it slows down. The tube (2" diameter) is great as I was able to vacuum my 25 gal tank in a couple of mins. I also have the 1" tube 16" length / 3/8" id hose version. It was ok but took too long and I had to partially drain my tank so my hands wouldn't get wet. I'm glad I upgrade to this one.

I was replacing a similar unit that was starting to crack after 10 years. The only problem with this one is the hose is too short to start a siphon. I replaced the hose with the longer on from my old device.

The Python No Spill Clean and Fill Aquarium Gravel Tube is a nice add to one having Python products already. The female connector works fine. The tube is fairly long at 24". It is great for large tanks. This is a great extension accessory. I recommend this Python accessory if you already have some Python products so you can attach. The 2 feet tube is a big plus. You may need a male connector to attach to another tube if you have no male connector on you existing Python tubing or if you want to add it to other brand tubing. I have a deep 150 gallon tank with goldfish, so you can be sure I need a lot of help in cleaning that sucker! The Python products are a perfect solution for me, this one in particular. I used to refer to water change day as "time to go swimming" because I'd been elbow deep in water while vacuuming. In a way I'm happy that my old Eheim battery operated vac kicked the bucket because this is as close to perfect as I could ask for. I run mine on an outdoor spigot as the faucets inside my home are incompatible with the connector (decorative/spray handles, etc) with a 50 foot hose and have found if I need more suction I can simply turn the faucet back on full blast, which creates a stronger vacuum and waters my flower bed at the same time.

This is a great syphon cleaner bit overpriced but is very good.

Perfect item to go with the Python system which has made tank cleaning easy, this piece is what I need for my large tank and does the job so well

I got this for my Fluval Roma 240 as the standard tube was too short, this reaches the bottom with a little extra at the top to hold it with. Very happy with it.
