This ice pad is the coldest and longest lasting ice pad on the market, when you first use it do not put it directly on skin. It is so cold that it will burn your skin. You need a thin cloth like a thin shirt between you and the product after 15/20 minutes. I remove the thin shirt and put it directly on my skin for maximum coldness and depth into the tissue/muscles/nerves I have been using them for 20 years they work. They do breakdown if they’re in the freezer too long other words for months on end so once you’re done using it and you know, you may not need it for a while. Remove it from the freezer to preserve the chemicals inside/once you know you’re going to need it once again, then put it back in the freezer.

I swear by these cryomax cold packs. I've never had an ice pack that gets as cold as this one does. It really helps my back pain and I bought the larger one to cover a bigger area of my back so now I can ice almost half my back at once. It is somewhat rigid when it's frozen solid but once it's melted a little it's pretty flexible. They honestly don't lie about how long it stays cold for, I think it stays cold for hours if I'm honest. I do a few 20 minutes on 20 minutes off sessions before needing to put it back into the freezer again which is nice because this gets stored in my basement freezer. I have two of the smaller sizes as well that I picked up a 10 years ago and 5 years ago I bought a second one and while the gel stuff isn't quite what it once was they do still work. Now that I have the bigger one I mainly use those for transporting food in coolers to and from our campground because it stays cold forever.

Well designed: 1) You can put it directly on the skin because it's covered with fleecy fabric that's thick enough to protect the skin and is soft and comfortable. The cover is also firmly attached to the ice pack inside so it can't slip around. 2) The velcro strap is long, sturdy and stretchy enough that you can wrap the ice pack firmly around an arm or ankle and it stays in place. 3) Well-made. It's not going to fall apart 4) Stays cold for a long time (5-6 hours) and refreezes pretty quickly

These ice packs are AMAZING (will explain the Subscribe & Save caveat). I have chronic pain so I have 2 sets of the ice packs I need that are in a constant rotation. Why you need it: * Once fully frozen, it really does last up to 8 hours. I easily get 6 and usually the full 8. I'm sure the conditions and amount of insulation being used affect this. * You won't find any other kind that stays colder or for longer- I have tried them all, trust me. * The covers they come with are excellent insulators (which you will NEED). The straps are also super helpful for various situations since the strong velcro can stick to any part of the cover. Wrap around any size limb, or use to wrap around/ attach to stuff (I use them to hang the ice pack against the back of my wheelchair for back pain). * Even if only partially frozen, can get a lot of use out of them * The bumps are not uncomfortable * There are some easy work-arounds to some of the problems Tricky things to know/ keep in mind: * They take a long time to get fully frozen, and freeze best with air space in the freezer. I've found it takes 3-4 hours to get completely frozen. The blue bubbles will freeze hard first, then the pink liquid "matrix" will freeze last, and that's where the magic is, you need that pink stuff for it to last longest. * It's not that moldable when fully frozen, but if you use it when the pink isn't completely frozen yet, then it will bend more, along the gaps between blue bubbles. * There's a reason they're offered on "Subscribe & Save"! The pink stuff will eventually leak out (and get stuff wet), and with continued use some of the blue dots will also pop and leak out. Without the pink matrix, you can still use it with just the dots, but it's not nearly as long-lasting (freezes faster though). So with constant daily use like me, you'll need to replace them after about 4-6 months. (I don't recommend actually getting on S&S, just replace as needed.) Work-around: Always keep these in a 2-gallon ziplock bag! Doing this has extended the life greatly, and prevents the liquid getting on things when they do leak. (You might need to replace the bags once in a while but that's better than losing the liquid.) I also duct-taped around the edges of a couple of my ice packs, but it's unclear if this has made much difference, I can't tell where exactly the liquid gets out. The bags are most important. Pics- 1) a fully frozen one I've been using for about 6 months, in a ziploc bag. One or 2 blue dots have popped but nothing leaking, so it's fully functional 2) A thawed and "dying" ice pack- several blue bubbles have popped, the pink has begun to leak out (my bag is worn out too), I will have to replace this one soon to get 8-hours of function per use 3) This is a frozen but completely leaked out one, the pink is gone (I didn't have this in a bag!), I can still use it for some things with just the frozen bubbles, and it is flexible but will thaw a lot more quickly. (Side note- the 6x12 don't last as long as the 12x12.) The bottom line/ TL,DR: these are definitely worth it despite the leaking requiring you to replace them periodically. They're the best and only solution for nearly all-day use for chronic pain and/or taking on a day out.

I have chronic severe pain and over the course of the last few years, have bought about $200 worth of these ice packs because they do stay cold for so long and provided me with pain relief and I would rotate them out throughout the night. I haven't found any other ice packs that stay cold as long as they do. That's for certain. I did sometimes lay on the the larger ones and they withstood that for some time before inevitably leaking. Even the smaller ones would eventually start leaking and I didn't lay on those. They would last a few months of mild daily use. Still not worth the $$ any way you look at it. At the end of the day, I really feel ripped off because I only kept buying these out of desperation for extended pain relief and ended up spending a lot of money; wracking up more medical bills because of them and coming into contact with whatever toxic chemicals are in these packs for my trouble. Some would just leak a small amount and so I kept thinking the moisture was condensation at first until I changed my darker colored sheets to white ones and saw the pink color. Then a couple of them leaked badly--the pink fluid in between the little ice nodes is what leaked out. I know this is a problem that WILL happen eventually to almost everyone just from my own experience and reading other reviewers who have complained about the same thing here. At first I didn't attribute the rash I had across my back to the chemical. I actually went to the doctor and was treated for shingles. I had a horrible itching burning rash across the entire width of my back, rear and hips. After 8 weeks my doctor became really concerned that my rash was not getting better at all and referred me to a dermatologist who immediately told me that it was a severe reaction to something and/or a burn .... not shingles at all! I quickly realized what was causing my severe rash-the pink fluid leaking from the Cryomax ice packs! I don't have allergies nor do I have sensitive skin. This stuff it outright toxic! My dermatologist told me that I had what looked like a chemical burn! Even after I stopped using the ice packs and treated my burns/rash with a topical steroid multiple times a day the "burns" remained angry, burning and itching for a long time. Finally the larger areas of my back started to clear up and heal. The other night I was in so much pain that stupid me decided to use one of the remaining small ice packs on my hip. I thought I had thrown out all the leaky ones. Nope. Here I am again with a horribly painful and itching chemical burn. I fell asleep with the ice pack laying along side my hip and it leaked. Boy am I sorry. I've attached a pic as a warning. Yes these stay very cold for a long time but they WILL leak sooner or later and will cause a chemical burn!!! Even if they don't, whatever chemical is used in them is definitely NOT nontoxic. Another reviewer posted a similar experience of being "burned" by whatever this chemical is. Believe me, it's no joke! I don't know where these things are made but I would say it's not in a country with super strict regulation. I'm certain it isn't the US. If it is, I will report this company. If I get cancer from this I am REALLY going after someone. These ice packs are NOT safe until they replace whatever chemical they are using with something that is safe and nontoxic. Buy at your own risk!

I use gel packs to help reduce swelling and spasms in a chronic neck condition. I leave the ice packs on until they are no longer cold. For this reason, I am looking for an ice pack which gets cold and maintains it's cold for a long time. I also need a 5 by 10 to cover my entire neck about half way around. Lastly, I need a holder with a comfortable velcro strap to apply compression. It is important to note that my reviews are based on these needs. People use these packs in many different ways. I had been using the the Medi-Temp Universal Plus Hot/Cold packs. They worked well and got cold enough that they needed to be massaged a bit after coming out of the freezer in order to make them bend. Eventually, they stopped freezing well after a year of constant use. I decided to try a few different options before doing a mass replacement. I purchased three different products for my evaluations.I will review all three together and post the reviews under all three products so that others with neck problems can consider all the feedback together. I did get a solid year plus of daily use out of the packs before they wouldn't hold cold as well. I have seen holders advertised separately but $15 for a Velcro strap holder seems high. I am just using the Medi-Temp holders. Since you can buy a Medi-Temp holder and gel pack for $15 that seems like a more economical approach. The one downside to these packs are they are 4 by 10 instead of the 5 by 10 of the Medi-Temps and that makes them cover just a little less. My neck problems cause Occipital headaches so having that extra inch of gel pack fold up under the back of my head provides extra relief. It's plush and it almost seems like it acts as a bit of an insulator to keep the pack cold longer. Unfortunately there are just too many issues with this product for me and I won't be buying more. The first issue is that it simply does not get cold enough and that is a critical flaw for cold pack. It does stay very flexible but I need cold more than flexible. The second issue is that the really nice holder and Velcro strap does not actually stick to the strap itself. For someone needing neck compression, that is required. I would recommend this product for people who need a flexible pack and and are concerned about frostbite with extended use. It has blue spheres that freeze solid like ice and they are held in place by flexible gel. I will say that this product does maintain it's cold longer than other products but it is a little bit hard to manipulate. It does not stay cold for 8 hours during use though. Not even close. Also, the pack is too wide to be comfortable on a neck. Lastly, the Velcro strap is too thin. In order to get compression around your neck you have to strangle yourself. Every other pack holder I have used has a wider strap so it spreads the force across your entire windpipe. My belief is that this product would be fantastic for a lower back ice pack but it simply not right for a neck for several reasons. That being said, I am now looking at the picture with the guy using it on his hip. I am not sure I would want that thin strip compressed across my stomach either. I think they need to make that strap wider. I wish they made one in a 5 by 10 size with a wide strap.

So I did a ton of research for relief for my severe lower back sacrum. Whoever designed this is absolutely a genius! It's EXACTLY what needed. Thank you so much to this company. Lastly it last easily for 8-10 hours!!

What's not to like... they do exactly what they are meant to do. Everything about them feels quality. I am using them in my cooling vests because they are very flexible and stay cold for hours.

It does work better than a flat gel pack as it bends to the required shape and works as a 'cold' pack for hours rather than minutes without frostbite issues- not entirely sure about the 8 hour claim but remains useable for much longer than powder based packs or real ice

False advertising, and very poor product. Same as every other 1$ coldpacks. Stays cold about 1.5hrs. and package says "to stay cold for 8hrs, product needs to be tr-freezed on freezer every 2 hours for 30min 😂
