Kaytee Hi-Calcium Grit for Small Birds - Jar 21 oz

I tried this gravel for my dove and she really liked it. There was a short time that this wasn’t available on Amazon so I tried another brand. My bird refused to eat the alternative gravel. When this gravel was finally available again I purchased it immediately. As soon as I filled her gravel dish she chowed down on it and was very happy. That makes me happy too.

Great for the birds

We've been giving our cockatiels this Kaytee grit for years, and they love it. We serve it separately from their regular food, in small caps (from our empty vitamin bottles). Grit is not only good for satisfying their nibbling instincts--it helps condition their beaks. Kaytee grit provides calcium, necessary for their bones and feathers. The charcoal in the grit helps to absorb toxins and sweetens their stomachs. They do not eat it all the time, only when they feel like it. I wish Hartz would go back to offering the grit in the box that you used to get at Walmart. It was finer than Kaytee's and looked like sand. But it looks like Hartz has flown the coop on the birds. Amazon has the best price on the Kaytee grit. Thanks, Amazon! 💖

My bird loves to eat it.

I Purchased this for Parakeets. I personally believe it is way too large for them. I don’t know if I could even swallow a piece of this. They are used to the grit the size of sand.Most of this is like a 16th of an inch diameter. Some 1/8th inch.

My pet pigeons and dove absolutely love this calcium grit. They start pecking at it as soon as I put it in their cages. One of my pigeons had an egg stuck inside her that she couldn’t pass. The vet had to give her a calcium shot and told me to incorporate calcium in their diet. I will forever use this product. The birds and I are very happy!

I am not sure if the bird likes it or not. The grit that I used is of finer texture.
