How stable is the bar when being used? Does it flex a lot or is it rigid?

It is rigid enough for sharpening purposes. If you are trying to grind stock away it will flex a bit. Personally I think this attachment should have been included with the sharpener, I don't use it without now.

Could this attachment be fitted to a worksharp 2000 even if means some small manufacture or modification . Thanks in anticipation of your responses ? Kind regards steve

There is nowhere on the 2000 to attach it but you could possibly mount to a base with make an auxiliary stand out of some stable wood if you have access to a good drill press and bits. It would probably be easier to just get a 3000 though...
