Perixx PERIMICE-520 Wired USB Ergonomic Programmable Trackball Mouse, Adjustable Angle, 8 Button Design, Black (PM-520-11447)

I saw an ad for a thumb-trackball mouse, and thought it was the same brand, but it wasn't. I looked up the order here on Amazon and here it is: Perixx. A brand I had never heard of and haven't seen since then. HOWEVER... it has been over 3 years since I bought this, and it is so reliable that I had forgotten about it. It has never given my problems, and has arguably lasted longer than any Logitech Trackman or Logitech M570 (the wireless version) ever has for me. Sure, I have to occasionally pop the trackball out and clean out the rollers and stuff, but otherwise there has been absolutely no problem with this device. It's automatic. It is something I never have to worry about. This is also a wired version, which is something lacking in Logitech's lineup since they inexplicably discontinued the Trackman Wheel over a decade ago (possible two decades now that I think about it). Having said that, this type of device is not for everyone. But it is my weapon of choice, so to speak. I have an M570 at work, and have this device for home. I do play video games with it (they're really good for FPS sniping, because it's just your thumb that's moving), although I'm not the best gamer so YMMV at that. But otherwise this is a solidly made device that has no signs of dying anytime soon. Assuming the production quality hasn't declined in the last 3 years, this is definitely one you want to get if you're into this type of input device.

Just a bit of background here; I am 71 years old now and have been using computers and mice since the early 80's. From the simple two button mice of the past to the multi buttoned and wireless mice of today, I have tried and used them all. I experienced the trackball mice early on when Microsoft introduced theirs. It was built like a tank and lasted for years till I eventually wore out the support pins and had to look for a new. The Logitech one was a possible candidate but it didnt have enough buttons for my needs and so I settled on the wired Permice-520. It was wired, something that I demand of my computer products when needed; who wants to have to replace batteries when you are in the middle of something important? it fits perfectly in my hand and the ball, and scroll wheel are in the correct position, and it has the extra buttons I need for going forward and back when on the web. The ball movements are much smaller than needed to move an entire mouse and for those who are experience arthritis less painful. Because of all of these features, it is a win-win situation for me. Regular mouse users might not agree, but trackball mice users looking for a replacement, should give this unit a try. At a cost of less than 30 bucks, its worth the price to see if it works as well for you.

I am coming from a pile of failed logitech m570's, Kensington Expert mouse, Logitech MX Ergo, Elecom M-XT3URBK and a Kensington Pro fit Ergo. All have failed or just didn't fit my hand comfortably. I took a chance with this less expensive unheard of brand and I am surprised how well it works out of the box and it feels great, well not the trackball, it's not too smooth, but like other trackball mice, I just popped in a Logitech M570 ball and rolls smooth like butta. I chose this one because of the programable button feature, large size and decent reviews. This thing worked well with no driver and with the driver, customizing buttons are a breeze and you can even program macros! Seems like I finally found a decent trackball, but let's see how long this one goes! Update: After using it heavy for a few days now, the mouse is still going good. The cursor movement is a little shaky and I like the large size but none of the angles feel right, I settled on the smaller wedge. End of the day, this mouse gets the job done and unlike all the others I tried, it works!

I received it and plugged it in and unplugged my old Logitech trackball. touching it the pointer FLEW across both monitors. I use a 32" and a 40" UHD TV/monitors. I tried use the trackball and pointer was racing all of the place. very difficult to control. I tried the DPI switch and no difference. Have no real idea what the DPI switch is supposed to do. I eventually was able to work it over to the Control panel and select the Mouse controller. I had to slide or move the pointer speed and tail to "Dead slow" I also changed the wheel Horizontal and vertical page rates too. Once i got it set up it has been awesome ! Very quick response, smooth, and precise. I can quickly place the pointer exactly where I want it. I had terrible problems and issues in copy and paste using the mouse and other related things. ALL of my problems I thought might be with the old mouse and computer. I found to be with the old mouse. This mouse makes all of those tasks effortless. The things I was trying to do were becoming tedious and harder to do. This mouse makes everything FUN again. Have not figured out the ergonomics things yet. Trying flat and then with the tilt supports. Using both is too much. the taller one is kind of awkward at times. With the smaller one my wrist is straight and not bent. Comfort is great. I very much recommend this mouse.

I've used this mouse for 6 months or so. I tested a few trackball mice before settling on this one because I like how my hand rests on it. It's larger than other popular models I tried, but I'm 6' 2" with proportionally big hands so it works for me. The software driver for this is great—being able to reprogram buttons and being able to finely adjust the high- and low-sensitivity settings is a game-changer. The downside I faced with this mouse is that the trackball was not nearly as smooth as competing Logitech or Elecom models. It felt more "gritty" and was hard to make fine movements. During my testing, I popped the Logitech M570 trackball in (it was a perfect fit) and then the Perixx mouse felt just as silky-smooth. You could buy a replacement M570 ball, but those are like $20!! I read up on trackball mods (the hobby runs deep!) and tried a bunch myself. Here's the only one that works: rub wax paper on the ball only (not the bearings!) and it's the same silky-smooth as the M570 ball. Also remember to clean the bearings when they get sticky (any trackball needs this). I use isopropyl and a little brush. Takes 30 seconds every couple weeks. This mouse is working fine for me with several hundreds of hours of use on it. Hoping I don't run into longevity issues like some others have mentioned, but whenever it dies, I'll probably buy another :)

I've had this mouse for about a month at this point. My job requires me to be at the computer all day and a trackball style mouse saves me a tremendous amount of fatigue and I've used them for a few years. I purchased this mouse to replace another trackball mouse. Additionally, I have a trackball mouse at home and in my office, so I'd say I have a thorough understanding of their operation. The first thing I noticed about this mouse as soon as I put my hand on it was how wide it felt compared to any other I've used. Later that night I got a message from my son wanting to know if the mouse was replaced because it felt so wide. While the shape conforms well to your hand, the wide stance makes it feel a little odd. If you have small hands, this may not be the mouse for you. The other thing I noticed was action of the mouse ball was not completely smooth, which makes it difficult to control the cursor in some instances. Again, this was right out of the box so it had no time to get any type of oil, film, etc. on the ball from my hand. I did pull the ball out and wipe it down which helped, but not entirely. It has a high/ low DPI setting, but you can feel this is a mechanical issue with the ball rolling in the socket and not an electronic issue. I'm not sure if the issue is with the ball or the pads it rolls on at the sensors in the socket. The App the mouse uses to configure the various buttons is nice. The mouse does have an impressive array of buttons. Example, not only does the mouse wheel click up/ down, it also click left and right...you can individually select an action for each. I have my index finger buttons set to control Copy/ Paste and the mouse wheel set to control my PC audio (click the wheel down for Mute, left to reduce volume, and right to increase volume). While probably not unique to this mouse it's very nice. The App has a Macro Manager in it. While I have not yet used it, it looks like you can record a macro and assign it to one of the mouse buttons. That seems to be a unique feature to this mouse which is very nice. So long as it works in apps such as Word, Excel, etc...again, I have not yet tried it. Summary: If you have smaller hands this may not be the mouse for you. If you do a lot of very close-quarter mouse movements (graphics, etc..) this may not be the mouse for you. I have a graphics tablet so any graphics work I do is not affected, however, it has occasionally been an issue even while trying to position the cursor over buttons in word, excel, etc.. Not enough that I feel the need to replace it, but enough to notice and be a little frustrating. However, the Macro Manager feature may be the Pro that outweighs any other Con.

Pros: Smooth operation of the ball, large smoothly operating synthetic ball bearings in the ball socket. Switches have a nice positive feel when a button is pushed, and feel truly solid. Tilt wheel for horizontal scrolling is just right, and very responsive without being too touchy. Scroll wheel has positive clicks for each increment. The main body sculpt is extremely comfortable and well designed. Angled wedges are a nice touch and I have used both so far finding each has it's merits. Driver and software are easy to obtain from the Perixx drivers site, there is a link in the manual. Software is easily configurable, and can co-exist with other brands of Trackball software without issues. Price point is far less than Logitech's newest trackball, and frankly I have too many of their dead M570s to ever buy from them again anyway. No stupid rubber coating that peels off in short order, and I am very thankful for this. Cons: It wasn't free. For reason when reviewing this Amazon asks about Sheerness, and sadly I have to report that this trackball isn't even slightly translucent... ;) Conclusion: This is a keeper, and I will probably buy a few more for other machines I own and as backups just in case...

I generally wait until I've been able to use products before reviewing, and this is exactly why. This mouse is perfect because of the changeable magnetic 'tilt' bases. Ergonomic and easy to use. The only minor issue is that the DPI setting for sensitive, is waaaay too sensitive. Still not enough for the 2 star review I'm giving. Less than six months of use, and the scroll wheel has become jerky and unusable. Scroll up and the page goes down as often as it goes up. Scroll down and the page goes up as often as it goes down. Sure, I can clean the trackball, but cleaning the wheel means taking a chance on breaking the mouse, entirely. It is not built to be able to take it apart for repair, and therefore is built specifically to be short lived, so you have to spend ANOTHER $30 dollars on a new on if you want to keep the best features. This is ALWAYS done on purpose. Scroll wheels are not rocket science, and there are mice in the wild with scroll wheels STILL WORKING after 30 YEARS. It is ridiculous that this kind of money grab is not only allowed, but aspired to. Edit 1: I bought two of these, and now the second one has the exact same issue. Changed rating from 2 stars, to 1. Edit 2: The manufacturer was nice enough to replace one of these; however, now this third item has started doing exactly the same thing. As a side note, the third mouse was never connected to the same computer as the first two, as I had built a whole new PC. Either I have extraordinarily bad luck, or there's a large percentage of every production run these devices that are designed to fail.

Der Trackball hat noch 2 unterschiedlich hohe magnetische Unterbauten, so dass die für unterschiedliche Handneigungen und Höhen anpassbar sind. Mehrere Leute haben den bei mir schon ausprobiert und für toll befunden. Der Ball selbst schillert wunderschön, vor allem bei Sonnenschein.

The product worked great for the first 4 months. Sadly the scrolling wheel broke down. When I try to scroll down, it will scroll down and then up again. With this defect the mouse becomes unusable for me. Update: the mouse started working normally again. Still confused as to why the problem started and why it is working again.

J'avais souvent employé par le passé, des trackball, pour finalement retourner à la souris classique. À mon avis, le trackball est à réserver à des usages spécifiques, où l'espace est compté, ce qui est le cas pour cet achat. En cas d'usage intensif, il y a quand même une grosse fatigue du pouce... C'est peut être pas dramatique, mais les tendinites peuvent être très gênantes et compliquées à gérer. Ce trackball est de très bonne qualité. Je n'ai pas hésité à racheter du Perixx, car, que ce soit les claviers ou les souris, je n'ai pas été déçu. Pourvu que ça dure...

Uso trackball desde hace más de diez años. Actualmente tengo dos Logitech inalámbricos y otro marca Elecom. Este Perixx PERIMICE-520W está a la altura de cualquiera de ellos según mi experiencia. Llevo con él cuatro meses usándolo intensivamente para jugar al Minecraft y en ofimática, y estoy muy satisfecho. Espero que los interruptores duren más que los de algunos Logitech. Por último un consejo a los que empezáis con estos aparatos. No tiene mucho sentido comprar un trackball inalámbrico para una mesa de escritorio. Es un dispositivo fijo y no se mueve como un ratón convencional. Sin embargo, para el salón, para usarlo desde el sofá, creo que no hay nada mejor que un trackball inalámbrico. Lo puedes apoyar literalmente en cualquier sitio (manta, barriga, ...) y a funcionar con total precisión.

Really enjoy this mouse. The added segments to raise it from a flat position, really helps ergonomically. Recommend this to anyone looking for something easier than a standard computer mouse.👍👍👍
