Lamont Dozier ‎– Reimagination

The great songwiter series CDs by Jimmy Webb, Barry Mann and JD Souther, each produced tastefully by Fred Mollin, are all terrific. This one continues his streak, with unique performances of the classic Motown hits he composed with the Holland brothers. Wonderful listening, and great liner notes, too.

Lamont Dozier is still in great voice and the producer/arranger is a genius!! Terrific collection of re-imagined renditions of classic tunes by the man who wrote them!!!

What a wonderful album. Great re-interpertatations of classic Motown songs by the writer. Just beautiful!

Along with the Holland brothers Lamont virtually wrote the Motown Songbook. On this album he re-visits some of those classic tunes with Guest Artists such as Graham Nash, Lee Ann Womack, Gregory Porter,Sir Cliff Richard and the brilliant British songstress Jo Harman.It is the latter's contribution on the Four Tops classic 'Reach Out I'll Be There' that really sells the album. Initially released as the lead single the former No.1 across the world becomes a soulful gospel tinged opus.The production by the master of reinvention Fred Mollin - famous for his Grammy nominated work with Johnny Mathis and career defining work with Jimmy Webb - is a sympathetic recognition of the master songwriter's work.There is of course ample material available for 'Reimagination 2'.
