Totally AWESOME
WE LOVE THIS DEVICE / THESE DEVICESCON - does NOT work with every type lamp!Device did not work with TWO of our four floor lamps. The two lamps device worked with, works GREAT!PRO - Wireless socket connects through home WiFi. Once connected, you can control whatever is plugged into socket from your android device (I don't know if works with iPhones) any where in the WORLD, as long as WiFi is available.2015 We bought two units and connected devices to 2 different lamps. We set up different MULTIPLE on/off (military time) timer schedules for each lamp, so while we were on vacation the lamps came on as programmed for added security. My sister drove by our home and confirmed to us by phone that she could see the lamp light through the small window from her car. This could deter burglars because they don't know if someone is home or not! Each Unit can be used manually from APP for on and off.Units can be programmed (military time) so you can enjoy vacation without having to remember to turn on and off lamp / lamps.Warning - Tried Bayit WiFi lightbulb set - was disappointed because it didn't work in any of our lamps! Returned for refund and bought Switch. We plan to buy more to use in other rooms of our home.

This technology has lots of room for improvement (C-)
My package arrived in a brown package, inside of which was an already-opend 'bayitSwitch' box. The 'Quick Start Guide' listed on that box was not present.I was planning on using with an iPhone, so I searched Apple's App Store, and after a while found 'Bayit Switch'. I guess that is "trick" as they used to say, but they might have mentioned it on the box or device..With the App loaded, I went to the 'AP configuration' ( in the 'More' menu ) . Recommend against this, as it first leads you to searching for the 'WiWo-S20' network. That network does not exist with my Bayit device . Incidentally, the 'WiWo-S20' network is associated with an Orvibo Smart Socket , which looks identical to the Bayit device but for the label and price ($25 ). Hmm...Following the 'User Guide' instructions ( under the 'More' menu ) I tried and failed to connect the device to my network. I know the net name and password quite well, but until I went into the 'My Account' menu and entered my router's LAN IP address, no connection with the search. After IP address entry, then going to the 'Device' menu, selecting '+', then 'Bayit Switch' , THEN entering network name & password , I waited 40 secand it made the connection.I should mention this connection was made with the switch about 2 feet from the router. The LED being solidly red indicates clearly that the switch is RF connected . I have a medium sized, 2-story condo with detached garage. In rooms adjacent to my router ( ~ 20 ft) the switch connects. In my kitchen ( 30' through an exterior wall, by line-of-sight) or my garage ( 50', exterior wall ) it will not. The RF front end of this thing is somewhat numb compared to phones, pads and computers.I unplugged this thing several time and it maintained On/Off functionality, but other reviews suggest that the 'scheduling' portion may fail on reboot.

Hit or miss
The setup is mostly by trial and error - not hard, yet not easy and straightforward....sometimes frustrating, but when you understand it eventually, it's easy. However, to do it again, you still need trial and error. The instructions aren't straightforward, and even when you understand them, it still boils down to TRIAL AND ERROR.After the setup, the device works most of the time satisfactorily. It's fun to operate your appliances from remote locations far away from home, but at times it gives you the "unit not online" (or so) message that can be annoying. Sometimes at home too, you have that message as well, which can make the experience of using the device a bit frustrating. The Timer and Countdown thingy aren't very dependable. They hardly work for me. But since I intend to use the device mostly for remote start of appliances, having my phone always, I might never need those features. So, that isn't a deal breaker. That said, it is still recommended, and I plan on getting a couple more.

Save your money. They don't work properly.
I wanted to like this. Really, I did. I was so excited to finally be able to control my switches using my phone... What novelty! And initially, when I plugged in my 3 Bayit Switches, they connected easily and performed as anticipated. I was stoked.Unfortunately, the honeymoon phase ended quickly. Now, my switches work maybe once in 10 or 20 tries, if at all. I've found that I can greatly increase the likelihood that they work if my iPhone is connected to the same wireless network as the switches, but even then, they don't always work. They're completely hit or miss, and honestly, at this point, it's more convenient to just get off my chair and turn the switch on / off myself. At least that way, I know for sure that the device will turn on / off as expected.Oh, and they also don't work with the Wink Hub or any app that isn't made by Bayit. Way to keep it proprietary, guys.At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I've sunk $100 into these 3 switches, and all I have are 3 incredibly expensive paperweights. May bite the bullet and shell out for WeMo switches, but the idea of spending that much more money is not appealing... Meh.
