Practical Leadership
Mark Smits and I were in the same Battalion at Texas A& M University in the Corps of Cadets in the late 70’s. Like thousands before and afterwards, we were taught, and learned valuable leadership lessons which prepared us for either Military service, and Civilian leadership. His recount of those days, and how they still hold influence and relevance today with principled leadership training being taught in the Corps still hold true. Those of us who lived it understand it, many will get a glimpse. A practical look at practical leadership.

Concise but relevant leadership lessons laid out well.
Mark Smits has multiple career experience sets in which he used the fundamentals learned at A&M, then he honed his style and skills at great multinational companies serving the healthcare sector. Good summary of Mark the Leader and the way he inspires his teams.

Great Leadership Principles!
I enjoyed this book as it diverted from the typical pitfall many leadership books fall into of prescribing the exact adoption methods of the principles listed within the book. The author does a nice job of laying out his leadership lessons with humorous stories while allowing the reader to envision ways of adopting with their team.

Highly Recommend
Corps Values is an excellent read. Mr Smits lays out some strong leaderships skills which can help improve your business and life practices. Much like he explains how he learned some of the values without really realizing it, I found myself surprised how his humorous stories were teaching me while also entertaining me.I can almost feel myself on the receiving end of one of his bone crushing handshakes while trying to figure out where his hometown really was. If you attended Texas A&M, it will bring a smile to your face and if you did not, it will give you a peek into one of the Country’s great universities and the Corps of Cadets that make a special place.I wish I had read this 25 years ago!
