Easy
Did this for my daughters 9th birthday party. 🎂 very easy for the 9 year Olds to do. You must make sure the water is boiling temp or it won't dissolve the beads though. Which is a bit hot to handle. But overall, they loved making these.

Great for older child too!
I purchased this for an older child (11) who is starting to love beauty products and enjoys making things herself. Although the science/STEM lab is appealing, that is not why she loves this kit, so it's not just for girls who like science, but also for kids who just like hands on activities. After reading some of the other reviews, I agree that there may be some adult supervision required for younger kids (boiling the water), but with an older child who already loves to be in the kitchen it wasn't an issue. I told her what to do and was there, but she was able to do everything herself, even clean up.I asked her what she thought of the balm after it was made, and she said it felt just like the balms we buy at the store, and that her lips didn't feel chapped after using it. I mostly buy all natural lip balms, but bought this because it gave her the chance to make them herself, and so far they are working great.I wish there were more balms to make in the kit, but for the price it's still a pretty good deal. She made them all in one day so the "toy" part was over pretty quick, but she still had fun.

Great Gift for a 10 Year Old
My 10 year old daughter got this for Christmas. We made the first one together and she’s been able to create the rest independently. She loves them and is so proud to be able to do it on her own. Highly recommend.

Interesting idea but doesn't work
My 12 year old granddaughter and I were very disappointed in this kit. The instructions say that the "pellets" will melt if the container is placed in boiling water, and then the liquid should be put into the tubes. But following the instructions carefully didn't work....the only way we could get anything to melt was to microwave for 40 seconds...and even then the mix of wax and pellets were still sticky and chunky and very difficult to get into the tube. It was impossible to manage the "layered" effect advertised, even after waiting several hours for the material to harden. So the concept is good, but the reality, not so much.

Very cute set!
My 6 year old loves this! We have had several bath bomb kits that we couldn’t get to work out. It was frustrating and in the end we didn’t even have a product to use. I was worried this would turn out the same but they turned out great! Very easy to do and simple instructions. There are several complaints that the kids can’t completely do this on their own because of the hot water involved. I did have to help her in melting the wax but I just view it as a craft we can do together! Very cute! Highly recommend especially for under $10.

I am beyond disappointed in this product and would give it zero stars ...
I am beyond disappointed in this product and would give it zero stars if I could. My daughter was so excited when this came in the mail and wanted to do it immediately. The entire "experiment" was a disaster. To start with, if it is marketed for girls, the directions should be written better. They should be in a larger font, with pictures or photos to accompany them. In terms of the set itself, it has a jar of wax base, a bag of wax chips, a small measuring cup, and a spatula. The instructions say that it is supposed to come with a spoon; however, there was not a spoon included in our kit.You are supposed to mix three cups of the wax base with wax chips. The base is very sticky, so it is extremely difficult to get the base out of the container. Once the wax base and wax chips are in the measuring cup (which is approximately 3-4 inches high), you are supposed to put the cup into another bowl filled with boiling water, so that the waxes melt together. Despite using boiling water from a water cooker, I wasn't able to get all of the wax chips to melt. In addition, it is extremely difficult to hold the measuring cup, because there was a lot of steam. So I have no idea how this is a good idea for a child's science experiment.Once the waxes have melted together, you are supposed to add the flavor and an option lip shimmer. These are in small containers. These were very difficult to squeeze out. Again, as an adult, I was able to do it; however, my daughter was not able to get the drops out.Because only one mixing cup is included, the colors either get muddled together or you have to wash the container between uses. As it is wax, it is a pain the neck to wash and hard to get out of things. My daughter had fun pretending to be a scientist with me, but I was frustrated the entire time. I honestly don't know how this got past the testing stage and how it has so many good reviews. It is a piece of junk and I won't waste any more money on this brand.
