A good printer/scanner combination
This printer/scanner was a birthday present several months ago and I've been very pleased with it. I was frankly amazed at the quality of A4 prints it produces especially when you use photo quality paper. The cartridges last well and in fact when the box pops up saying you need to insert a new cartridge you usually have some time to go before you need to get the new one out. For general purpose printing off web pages and general documents, quality is fine for some time after it starts to think the cartridge is empty. The scanner is quite good though I always have to do some cleaning up in Paint Shop Pro afterwards. I use my scanner for making lace patterns and find the black background I use always has some spots on it. However this is easy enough to fix and most people would be more than happy with the quality of the scans. The scanning software is quite slow to launch once a scan has been made and you can expect to wait a couple of minutes until it has finished preparing the image. HP provide a good range of tools with which to edit your images and most people would find the included tools more than adequate.I am very happy with this equipment and expect to continue using it for quite some time. The HP laserjet printer I use at work is at least five years old and is still going strong! I'm giving it four stars only because I feel the quality of the scans is not quite as good as the quality of the prints and they really should be equal to do the printer justice.

Throwaway printer?
Worked almost fine for ~11 months - although driver software seems horribly buggy. After 11 months printer carriage started jamming. HP email support (in US) excellent - agreed it needed to be replaced in less than an hour. HP telephone support in UK worse than useless: They only help if you're physically with the unit and only keep office hours (no good for me!). Sent it back to HP - they sent a replacement one week later that was incomplete (no mains lead or driver disk) and didn't have an English front panel (choice of French or assorted Eastern European languages)! Icing on the cake: Replacement has the same carriage jamming fault as original! I did read on one forum that HP send out other (refurbished?) customer returns as replacement units so I'm not surprised it didn't work.I can't do another week without a printer - so I'm cutting my losses and will be purchasing another printer (not HP!). My advice: By all means purchase the HP PSC series - they are cheap, however expect it to fail, and when it does avoid the hassle, throw it away and buy another one...

Won't Print On Labels, Poor Support
My PSC1315 is only six months old, I bought the printer based on quality of the brand as I have specified and purchased over 5 HP laser printers for our workplace that are excellent. BUT don't buy this inkjet printer if you are going to print on any type of labels. HP have an issue with Avery labels (see HP website trouble shooting). I bought labels from another supplier (Hovat) and they would not work properly to. There is a problem with the roller pick-up. Labels end up printed in the wrong place! Would you believe that the HP cure is to adjust the top of the page down! Another HP cure was to buy 'HP' labels only, what happened to the free market! HP support in the UK is very poor. Have chased HP on at least four occasions and still waiting to return the printer to HP for a refund. My confidence on HP products is now at an all time low. My old Epson 600 (5 years old) did not have this problem with labels, it's a shame I got rid of it now.Be very careful about buying other HP products in the future and check carefully other reviews on other websites before you purchase.
