Product is so sturdy that it took a little strength to get it opened. I opened and closed 10x+ to loosen it up. I purchased used I'm not sure if I received one that was returned due to how hard it was to open.

I use this hook everyday to hang my purse from my desk at work (which is heavy so you know it's good quality)! I've gotten tons of compliments on it! Love it! Updated May 5th: Item only lasted a month before the broke away from the flower base. It can still function without the flower and I believe I can fix it by gluing the hook back in. I took away a star because I am disappointed that this didn't hold up longer

I purchased this on Jun. 1, 2017 and it broke on Jul. 3, 2017. Two weeks with the product and the lock latch no longer clicked. The base works perfectly, but the chain is cheap. Also, I didn't use a bag bigger than a medium tote bag and it was filled with an iPad, wallet, iPhone, and a tote umbrella when the hook broke. It's cute but definitely not worth the $8.99 I paid for it.

This is so helpful to keep my purse off the top of the table and/or my lap. It’s easy to use. It hangs on my purse strap and is extremely strong.

The front was cracked and the gold around the edges were peeling off when I received the item. Other than that, it’s pretty sturdy.
