This is specifically anti-MIDGE
Not effective against some insects, but it does work against ticks - I found (and squashed) 3 of them in my socks but they hadn't bitten my legs (no blood) though Greek mosquitoes or sand-flies, I don't know which, had!Not been put to the ultimate test (yet) - the Scottish Highlands in late summer.

Worked well repelling midgies on family holiday to Skye. Friend had a DEET-based spray, which didn't seem to work at all, but this was definitely superior.

Scotland’s Notorious Midges!
Doesn’t work! Not against Scotland’s midges anyway. Those things are notorious !This spray didn’t seem to bother them in the slightest when it was applied on myself, they’d still land and take a bite.. like being at an open buffet!The only saving grace for my mentality that day was a smidge net and even then the little blighters still found their way in the head net.Anyway, I’m giving it two stars because although it didn’t work directly on person… it worked great inside the tent for any swarm of midges that got inside. Few sprays inside the tent and the tent floor became a graveyard of midges. There were still some that survived the tent spraying and sought their revenge whilst I was trying to sleep, waking up to bites under my clothing and watch strap!…. How??It’s been over a week since my midge attack and I’ve still got bite marks that itch!The search continues for something that will work.
