Tymate TM2 RV Tire Pressure Monitoring System, TPMS Set of 4 Sensors

This tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) works awesome and is worth every penny - it saved us from a flat tire or worse, a blowout. As we were preparing for our first trip, I was reading a lot about the dangers of a blowout, and we had friends who experienced one and lost control of their trailer. I read several recommendations to buy a TPMS, but I didn’t know how much value it would add and I wanted to save on costs. This one seemed to get the best reviews for a ‘try it’ price I was willing to spend. We use it all the time, and I really like it’s low profile on my dash, and that it recharges itself using its solar panel- no extra charging cords. I do wish the display was larger, but I do prefer the low profile, so that’s the trade-off. That being said, I have no problems reading the display of all 4 tires while driving. I was surprised the pressure reading is pretty accurate! I didn’t use a digital gauge for comparison, but it seems to be within 3-5 psi, and that’s good enough for me. I don’t know how accurate the temperature reading is, but as long as they all read as expected and close to each other, that was good enough for me. For the price point, I wasn’t expecting something incredibly accurate, but as I mentioned, it did a good job with pressure; I was mostly looking out for abnormal readings that would alert me of a problem, and I felt like this TPMS really delivered above my expectations. The other thing I really like, is the ability to set low and high limits for pressure and temperature. After reading some articles online, I set my alarms accordingly. I’m glad I did! On our most recent trip, all of a sudden the alarm went off telling me the pressure in one tire had dropped below the threshold I had set. At the time, I didn’t fully trust the accuracy, so I stopped and manually checked the pressure- sure enough it was accurate and had dropped. I checked for leaks and finding none, I refilled the tire and continued driving. Once again, the alarm went off and a manual verification confirmed the reading was accurate and the alarm justified. We refilled the tire and drove to a tire shop as quickly as we safely could. They found that the wheel had a hairline crack (?!) which was causing the small pressure leak. We exchanged wheels and went on our merry way - no drama. We were so relieved! We are convinced that if it wasn’t for this little TPMS, we would’ve never known we had a small leak (who would guess a crack in the wheel?!), until we had an unfortunate event and had more drama than we wanted on our road trip. Tymate tire pressure monitoring system saved the day!

The unit is really easy to setup and use. I fully charged the Head unit which didn't take all that log, using the provided USB "C" Cable and should stay charged from here on using the built in solar cell on the unit. The unit was already "Paired" to the already configured sensors. LF, LR, RF, RR The only reason my rating isn't higher is for the following. 1. The sensor for the RR would display any info. Turned out that the battery on the sensor was dead, I checked it with a battery tester. 2. The enclosed manual says that the sensor battery is a CR2032 which it is not. it is a CR1632 which is a slightly odd unit to get at your local store. 3. All the sensors were active and powered on, using / draining the batteries while sitting new in the box. 4. The unit does not turn itself on or off. If you don't turn it on, you have no monitoring or alarms. If you leave it on for long periods of time, it may be dead if the sun isn't strong enough or you have parked in the shade etc, once again leaving you without monitoring or alarms. One thing I'm interested to see is how long the Lipo battery holds up. Usually in low cost items like this the LIPO battery is on of those inexpensive bag types that doesn't take heat or especially freezing temperatures without being killed. UPDATE I have left the unit turned on for several days in a row. Even in low lighting, like overcast days, its still enough to keep the units battery charged. so that is one concern that is resolved, Update 2025/12/30 I now have 3 units on 3 different vehicles and they all work great and there is no issues with one unit reporting to the wrong vehicle.

I bought this to use on my single axle small trailer. Reading about trailer tires, I have learned that proper pressure is even more critical than with car tires. They are also more prone to rapid pressure loss / blowouts. A TPMS can at least provide some margin of safety against those problems. Internal systems are expensive to buy and then must be mounted inside the tires, another expense. The external system addresses both issues. Within the constraints of an external system, this product works well. I give it 4 stars, knocking one star off for being a little inaccurate and some other quirks. Overall, it's a good system and at this price, I will keep it. Pros Very easy to install and use. You take off the dust cap and mount a sensor in its place with a dust cover and locking nut behind it. The monitor is a nice size, large enough to read but small enough to just sit on the side of my dashboard. It is solar powered so no batteries and no necessity to hook up to a power though a cord and plug are provided if you choose to do so. Cons Not perfect accuracy but to be fair, probably within the specs provided. I checked each tire with a known gauge. Two sensors are about 2 pounds low while a third was pretty much spot on. I used the third one on the spare tire and am not using the fourth. To preserve battery life in each sensor, they are motion activated and then only transmit if there is a change in pressure (and I think temperature). That makes sense. However, that also means that you cannot check the cold tire pressure before heading out. I'm told with trailer tires this is important to do. The only way to check the pressure is to unscrew and remove the sensor, check the pressure, and then remount the sensor. You lose a little air as you take it off and then again when you remount it. The instructions say you really should check with soapy water when you install a sensor to make sure you don't have a leak. You are also supposed to loosen and then re-tighten the locking nut behind the sensor. Note this is not a fault of this system as I assume this is the case with all of these externally mounted monitoring systems. I wish there was an override button on the sensor to manually get it to send a reading. That would make it easy to check pressure while still retaining the protocols to enhance sensor battery life. The motion activation and only sending a signal for significant changes also seems to lead to unpredictable first reads. On my initial trip that was on a smooth interstate, I got the first tire reading after about 10 minutes but the second tire reading didn't show up for nearly an hour. The reading for the spare was closer to 90 minutes after I left. If I knew the pressure was correct when I left, i suppose that would be ok, but as noted above, you don't know that unless you take off the monitors and check with a gauge. In my view, the system should be set up to send an initial reading at motion activation. That would also let you know that system was in fact working. This system does not do that. I camped in Colorado at a high altitude (8,600') with cold nights. When I left in the morning after a few days, I assumed the pressure was lower. I didn't bother to check since I had no way to add air anyway. In this case, all three tires reported right away as I drove out the dirt road within the campground. I've read that there may be external sensors with pass through channel that allow pressure checking and adding air. That might be an option to consider. Conclusion is that while not perfect, this system does give me some peace of mind that i will notice if a tire is rapidly losing air. For $60, that's well worth it. I'll continue to look at other systems for future consideration.

I don't leave reviews often, but this is a great product. I've had this product for 4 years now. I have used it on 3 different trailers, and the batteries are finally needing to be replaced in the sensors. I have probably 15,000 miles of towing all over the United States. I've towed 20 and 22 foot trailers behind HD trucks and even a 28 foot motorhome and the sensors have connected with the head unit. I have only plugged in the main unit a few times. I just leave it in the dash where the sun can charge using solar and it's always ready to use. This product has exceeded my expectations time and time again, and I have recommended it to many people. The pressure readings are accurate, and the range of connectivity is excellent. The price, quality, and performance is excellent for what you receive. If this one fails I will purchase another without any concerns. It provides a lot of value information and provides piece of mind when towing trailers .

I purchased this unit for my 26 foot RV trailer. As I installed the sensors, one by one they appeared on the screen. All seemed well. Once I was done, I put the unit on my dash - In the direct sunlight as recommended to use the solar feature and I immediately realized that the screen was pretty much impossible to see in the direct sunlight. I then left the unit on while I left the RV in the storage lot. I drove the entire 20 miles back home and the unit continued to display the sensor readings. Clearly this was incorrect, but this presents a major problem. I contacted their support folks are reviewed these problems. They claimed that yes the screen is hard to read, but 'you don't need the screen as if there is a problem with lost air, it will beep'. Hmm, that's reassuring. Then about the lack of disconnect alerts, that was also explained away is not a problem as they will keep the last reading until they reconnect. Well yes this is a problem if they don't ever reconnect. And for that matter, how do you know if they are connected or not? I was told not to worry about it. Well, when I went back to tow the RV, I put the unit on the dash and turned it on. It never was able to read the sensors that were probably 25 to 30 ft away. When I took the unit out of the truck and walked them back by the sensors, they connected. I then brought the unit back to the dash and the sensors continued to read - so I thought. As I'm driving down the highway, I'm noticing that the tire readings are not warming up, and none of the readings are changing as they should. So I turn the unit off and wait a few minutes while still driving and turn it back on. No connection. So the entire time, it was just reading the connection values when the unit was back near the tires, but never let you know that it lost the connection. So how would you ever know if you are indeed connected in the event you have a lost air condition. Unfortunately, the business knows these are mission critical problems rendering these things as worthless for their intended purpose, and spends a lot of time trying to convince people that the concerns are unwarranted. This is going back. Total waste of money. I just cannot fathom that folks are rating these Tymate products so highly. They simply don't work, but folks probably don't even know it, which is a huge issue. Avoid.

I bought this for my travel trailer last year. It worked great to give me the peace of mind in monitoring my tires' pressure and temperatures when I'm driving for hours on end. They were easy to install and the screen is intuitive. The sticky pad for putting it on your dash is washable when it starts to lose its stick. The solar is nice because I've never had to charge it when it's in my truck. The best part of my experience is the customer support. The monitor took a little tumble and stopped working. Wouldn't turn back on with either solar or wired charging. I contacted Tymate and they responded via email very quickly, offering some troubleshooting options. When the troubleshooting didn't work, they had me send it in and replaced the product with a brand new one.

So like all RVers I worry about blowout and trailer Tire performance. This is a mid range priced TPS unit and my first. - First the manual is pretty light on information - It does work well under solar power or plug in - Screen in easy to read and the readout have temp and pressure levels of all 4 tires - The alarm is load and will certainly get your attention when pressure or temp goes out of your set ranges. - To make the most use out of this tool you are going to need to understand the specifications of your tires. After a 5k trip to Yellowstone and back I figured it all out but all the tires operated a bit different. - True they were the so called china bombs but you'd think that all the same tires would be close in operating temps and pressure ranged. - Max Cold pressure seems to be the best place to start - Once they heat up its difficult to get a sense of where the correct operating pressure and temp should be but after a long trip you get to know your tires. - It seems that the unit work ok until an alarm goes off then I needed to reset it almost every time to get the reading back to normal or at least to get another accurate reading. - All the above I guess is part of understanding the science of it all and yes weather and sun beating on the tires does make a difference. You will actually see the temps and pressures go up on the sunny side of the rig as your are running or stop for gas. - Only real disappointment that lead me to no trues this device is I did have a blow out. No indications that it was going to happen and I understand that tires just do blow out but the when it did . NO alarm - no change in pressure or temp while it blew out. So do they work or not 100%? Sad thing is when I got the tire all changed - got back in my truck looks and the gauge and then the alarm sounded lol 15 min after the pop. Maybe the unit was defective I'm not sure but I'm going to return for a fresh on one or a up scale version. The knowledge you get from one of there is great but you cant let it run your trip for you if you know what I mean :-)

Very accurate. Easy to install and use. Saved us once when we picked up a nail. We were able to pull our rv over before the tire went flat.

Very easy to set up and been working really well.

Expensive and low speed when switching ON the instrument to identify the four sensors.

I bought it last April and i just start using it now, it doesn’t work
