Nice multistage debris filter
What this is: a multi-stage debris filter for Big Blue and other 10x5 inch whole-house filters.What it does: Instead of being a single-layer filter, this is a 3-layer filter, packaged in such a way that the water goes through all 3 layers. The end effect is it removes particles down to 5micron. The end-caps - the blue top and bottom - are what enforces the water flow.My house is on well water, in an area where clay and iron are typical. Our well is "rich enough" in clay and iron I use 3 stages of filter before the water softener - this filter goes in the first stage. It's very effective I follow it up with a 5 micron carbon block, then a 1-micron poly filter (for rust).

Excellent results in high-iron sediment well filtration, buy yourself a case.
I have a two-stage filter (large followed by smaller diameter in-line). Previously I was using 50 micron large followed by 10 micron smaller filters with good results. This "hybrid" multistage filter performs as advertised, my second-stage filter barely accumulates any sediment at all.There is no perceptible reduction in pressure, nor do I have to replace it any more often than the previous single-stage filter.No growth of iron bacteria whereas some other filter media did have this problem.I bought a full case and glad I did.

Works well
We use these and change them out every 30 days due to the lack of water quality in our town. Saves money on replacing appliances every few years due to the water quality.

No O rings. Really no O rings. I have always purchased the same thing,always had O rings.
Check real careful you are getting what you used to buy.

not near as fine of filter as they claim
not near as fine of filter as they claim. The culligan I replaced with these was 35 micron, and filtered much more and much finer silt than these do. Would be ok for a 'rough' pre-filter so that your more expensive filters last longer.

Better than pleated
I've used these for several months now filtering my well water. Seem to do a better job than pleated filters for my application.
