It's Time To Meet Blue
Ten years ago, Heather Webber introduced her first magical realism series, featuring Lucy Valentine. Not long after, she gave us the Magical Potion series, and then the wondrous, joyful, fascinating Wishcraft series. Now she has moved into stand-alone novels; first Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe, and now South of the Buttonwood Tree, and I am one of many who eagerly look forward to everything she writes. The people of Buttonwood, Alabama are very real; their interactions are painful, warm, confusing, a bit frightening--just like real life. They struggle through crises and misunderstandings to find their way to peace and love, and they do it using the full range of human strengths--but they have the help of some magic, and it’s this magic that makes Heather’s books really sparkle. It’s hard to read South of the Buttonwood Tree without beginning to look for the magic in our own lives. I don’t quite know why or how Heather understands this magic so well, but I want to continue to see it at work. Once again, I can’t wait for her next book, whatever it might be.

Magic and mystery, family and friends, heartache and healing
This is a charming story about live in a small town and the relationship therein, between family members, friends, and neighbors with a little magic thrown in. This is a bit more somber than some of Ms Webber's other books and while I've loved each and every one of those, it's delightful to watch her grow and expand as a writer. As with all of her books, there are wonderful, warm, rich characters that you want know and, as always, some you don't, and you'll feel like you're standing there watching each scene. There are some unexpected twists and turns, and you see that there are often things you don't know about a person, even when they're family. People aren't always who they appear to be on the surface, and you might be surprised when you look at them through someone else's eyes. This book reminded me a bit of Where the Crawdads Sing in the writing style and the way it draws you in. I look forward to many future journeys with Ms Webber!

4.5 Glorious Stars!
"And with this final piece of the puzzle, suddenly I knew deep in my soul that I'd finally found what I'd been looking for my whole life long. The thing with no name was me. I'd simply never realized it, because I hadn't known I'd been lost."..4.5 glorious stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫South of the Buttonwood Tree is Heather Webber's latest novel. This was the first book of hers that I have read but it will definitely not be the last. I absolutely fell in love with her writing style and she is truly a master at drawing you into a story. I loved the magical realism elements that she subtly but masterfully weaves into her tale..Webber tells the story of Blue and Sarah Grace who live in a small Alabama town. The Buttonwood Tree is something of myth and folklore that not everyone believes in. It is known to tell the receiver of the button their fate/life's purpose. I absolutely loved how the author changed perspectives throughout the book, as the reader learned more and more about everyone's stories..I loved everything about this book and cannot wait wait to read more Heather Webber novels..Thank you so much to NetGalley and Heather Webber for the advanced copy. ARC provided for my honest review.

Always follow the Buttonwood Tree's advice!
This author has done it, yet again! If this book doesn't make the best seller list, I will think things are rigged! This second story of a state in the Deep South is every bit as good as the first one, perhaps even better! The characters are very strong, believable and the story is so good, it strums the strings of your emotions! ANY book or story that actually makes you THINK is well worth your time and effort to read.

Liked the book . . . I think.
I thought this book was well written; good plot and great sub-plots. I liked the characters and their issues - liked the chapter toggle between Blue and Sarah Grace (loved the inserts with the judge). And I liked the touch of magical realism. That being said, the enormity of secrets became too much - by the time I reached two or three chapters from the end of the book, I just wanted it to end - then whamo, one more secret and truly overwhelming to the point I was thinking, Oh come on, really? Up to that point I would have given this book 4 or 5 stars. One more secret was like the straw that broke the camel's back. Too much.

SUPERB!!!!!!!
I wish I could give this book 50 stars. It is by far the best book I have read in years. I really liked all the people in the book except for one named Oleta, but even she is there for a point. The story itself grabbed me from the beginning, I did not want to stop reading but I did not want it to end either. Its a story about the importance of honesty and how narrow minded people can ruin peoples lives. There is no sex or violence and only one curse word.

Another magical and sweet 5 star hit from Heather Webber!
Started just a little slow for me but once I got into it I didn't want to put it down. The twists and the turns were absolutely spectacular. Some I could guess and others took me by surprise. This was a totally endearing story with so many wonderful and interesting characters. This had something in it for everyone....mystery, suspense, romance, fantasy, family relationships, pets, babies and a whole lot more. This had me feeling all the feelings...happy, sad, angry, anxious and any other feeling that you can think of. Heather has a wonderful way of combining fantasy in with true to life situations and I love how she brings it all together. A great book with great characters. Another winner from Heather Webber and a must read

Magical realism meets southern gothic
With a dash of sweetness and romance thrown in. I’m a fan of this author from her Lucy Valentine series, which also has touches of magic to it as well. I really love this book. The story made me cry, rage, cringe, and swoon. I couldn’t stop reading it. Well-written, clever, and no loose ends.

Magic with Substance
"Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!" (Sir Walter Scott, 1808). This could of been more fluff than substance with the magical storyline. The magic was a beautifully written as an important side dish to the character development. It added to the flow of the story without taking away from the tangled and troubled families not dealing with telling their truths or owning them. The author brings to light the story of someone’s life and how it can be become a seed of distrust within a community. How perception is not the whole truth most of the time. If you have spent any time in the Southern U.S. you may have come across a folklore or two. I always found it a bit magical myself or it could be good ole southern charm.

An enjoyable read
I love Heather Blake's books so took a chance reading her new series under a different name. So glad I did. This is a charming and entertaining story of a small town, family, friends and a little bit of magic. Please note to have a tissue ready in places. Highly recommend.
