Loving this book
This book was loaned from a friend and I wasn’t sure I would like the essay a day format. I was wrong. Some days are just good, some days are eye opening revelations of my soul. The fun thing is I believe this decades old book will stand the test of time well into the future decades as the essays speak to me based on where I am at the point in time that I read it, how open my heart/mind is to the the message on the day I read it. So today’s essay may hit different next year when I read it again. I also purchased the updated version to alternate years with (I read an in-depth review of the two that made it clear they were different enough to both be worth owning). I will say the original version’s attached ribbon book mark is an awesome feature that I am really sorry was left off the updated version.Yes, there are days I don’t get to it. It’s ok because it’s easy to catch up and/or read a day or two ahead.A thoughtful gift for yourself or someone else in your life. It is very female focused and while much will translate to the men in your life it will be hit or miss.

A guiding force in my life for years
Recently purchased yet another Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy to give as a gift. I hardly ever re-read books and this is a book I come back to year after year to infuse my life with Sarah's wisdom, grace, insights, and suggestions. The book is a grounding friend in my life. I'm grateful for the energy and focus Sarah put into creating such an incredible book.

This book can change your life and attitude - if you let it.
Have the hard copy from years ago. Soooooooo much easier to use the Kindle version. This is a book that I use as daily reflections from time to time. Have worked thru it about 3 times since it's original publication.Short daily readings and reflections help one to start the discipline of reflection and gratitude in living. Gratitude in turn leads to comfort and joy. Striving ceases, worry fades. SPOILER ALERT: This book requires active participation, not just "reading". In order to appreciate Simple Abundance, you have to practice it.

Inspiring!!
I love this book, it has an entry to read every day of the year and I mean I only started it in January but I read the daily writing every day and find it incredibly inspiring. I also took the books advice and started a journal and I love it. This book helps you begin a journey to find yourself and also happiness that may be eluding you. There's just a lot of great motivation in this book and it really does change your life and the way you look at things in your life. So far my favorite "lesson" would be to accept your circumstances, the author wants you to be appreciative of your life and be present. Don't worry about the past and stress about the future, just live the best life you can now. Accept that this is your life and then do the things that make you most happy. I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for something in their lives they can't quite name, for anyone wanting to enjoy life, to those who want to be happy. The ability to be happy is in our hands and it's all about being grateful for what we have and figuring out what truly makes us happy. Great book.

Just like the title says
This book has been around for awhile, so it doesn't need me to say how good it is. But just like the title, the book is all about comfort and joy. If anything, it is a reminder to look at the small things, the everyday things that bring us joy - things we might have forgotten along the way, things that might seem silly, but nevertheless can offer affirmation or "soul food" in a stressful, busy world. The format is nice, with each daily affirmation taking no more than a page or so. Unlike many books offering daily inspiration, it is not "preachy." Rather it is more spiritual. It tells you some simple ideas that might offer peace or comfort or a way to explore an idea or an item that you hadn't thought of that way before. I will feel comfortable giving this book as a gift to my friends who might have no religious affiliation or who are regular church members. Also, I would spring for the hardcover edition, as I think this book will be around for awhile. Once the year is up, you'll feel like starting over with the same year again.

A Life-Changing Experience
I bought this book several years ago and never managed to keep up for more than a few days. This year I found out why. When trying to establish evening rituals to help with sleep, I began this book again. YOU MUST START AT THE BEGINNING. That's where I went wrong before. You can't just jump in on the day you happen to receive it. That said, you can start on Jan 1 any time you want. I did that in late Feb, and I've been "doing" two pages a day to catch up. I've followed the instructions and started a gratitude journal, and I've already seen small changes in myself and my attitudes. I'm more mindful of my words and actions, and I'm more conscious of the things I have to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to more changes and a richer life experience as I continue my journey through this book. It may not be for everyone, but if you're looking to live a more conscious, mindful life, this collection of essays and observations could just be the spark of change you're looking for.
