ELECOM EX-G Wired Trackball Mouse, Ergonomic Thumb Control, Smooth Tracking Roller Ball, 5 Programmable Buttons, Tilt Scroll, Computer Mice for PC Mac

My son heard me talk about my preference for trackballs over a mouse so he wanted one to try out. He selected this one and used it for a couple of weeks before switching to a gaming mouse. I then inherited a new trackball. Happy days for me. I use this with my laptop so I don't need as much desk space as a mouse needs. I like the button placement and I love the feel of the thumb placed trackball. I have only used this with my work laptop so I have not used it for gaming. I do use it for 8-14 hours, several days per week and it has worked excellently. If you have not used a trackball, it might be good to try one if using a mouse makes your hand hurt. It does take a little time to adjust to the different movement but I think it is worth the time. This trackball is reasonably large similar to the older ones I used from another LOGIcal TEChnical manufacturer. I do not notice a significant difference in operation of the other brand trackball over this one. It is solid, works well, and has several more buttons. It is large which works well for my big mitts but wasn't comfortable for my son's smaller hands. While a great trackball for me, it might not fit smaller hands. One of my favorite features is that it is wired. There is no need for batteries but cord placement is the counterpoint.

I purchased this trackball as a wired alternative to my wireless Logitech M570. My primary reason to switch had to do with poor signal stability on the Logitech product. If the trackball was more than 3-4 feet away from the USB receiver plugged into the laptop the trackball would be sporadically unresponsive and jittery. I wanted to look for a wired Logitech option, but saw that it was not available and in the process came across ELECOM and their line of products. What attracted me to this particular model was the ergonomic design (it's not noticeably smaller, in my opinion, than M570 as others reported) and functionality given the presence of several buttons not found on the Logitech alternative. Amazon delivered the product fairly quickly and straight out of the box it has been great to use. The keys/buttons have a premium feel to them when pressed down and are responsive without being overly sensitive to touch, so no false clicks, as well as no extra effort as I would sometime need to exert with M570 (though that could just have been out of pure frustration with the quality of the signal on the M570). The trackball is just slightly smaller than M570, but not in any way that has impacted or affected my use of the product or its functionality. Much like M570, the ELECOM product features rubberized stickers on the bottom to ensure that it does not slide around the table and remains stationary. Overall, this is a great product and I doubt I'll go back to Logitech or another brand if I need another one of these in the future. Amazon shipped it pretty quickly

I love the functionality of this mouse. It has a lot of options for gaming especially. Only grip I have with it is the ball sticks a little when trying to do micro adjustments.

Needed to be returned immediately. The trackball would not spin freely. I cleaned it according to instructions but it did not help. This made it very difficult to work with, especially when trying to highlight small words or 2 or 3 letters in a word. I was sorry because I liked the ergonomic feel of the platform and the wheel worked very well - but it was all useless without a functioning trackball.

I just received this mouse so I can’t attest to it’s durability yet but I’ll attempt to convey my experience so far. Plug and play right out of the box A+ Ergonomics: hand and wrist position are perfect. Button access is easy and natural. A+ Thumb ball response is constant with zero stutter. Speed is adjustable with more than just high/low also the ring finger button hold function that temporarily slows the pointer while depressed is just genius. A+ Quality build: the wire jacket is sturdy, the case fitment is very stout. It doesn’t creak when I press or squeeze it. Poor fitment has caused alignment issues with the laser sensor on other mice I’ve tried causing skipping/stutter.A+ I can see now why so many people recommend the Elecom. This is not a paid review. It is my own consumer experience after trying almost every other thumb ball mouse out there.

I don't write reviews often, but this mouse is the best. I initially bought the Logitech Ergo thumbball mouse, and IT WAS AWFUL! Random, severe lag spikes. I am quite tech-savvy, and I spent a lot of time troubleshooting it before I eventually started looking for other options. I am so glad I found this mouse. It is WAY better. If you're like me, buy this one. The Logitech one blows. It's sitting on my desk now, unused, and that won't change. Another gripe with the Logitech is the inability to switch to wired (which I assume would've solved the lag issue), even though it had a port. Apparently, it's only for charging lol. Whoever made that call at Logitech is out of touch. If you have a port, make it able to handle the device communication. Anyway, this mouse is NOT a cheap-feeling mouse. It feels as good, sturdy, and high-quality as the Logitech.

Not smooth, sticky trackball, connected ok, wasting a lot of time correcting mistakes made by the poor operation of the trackball, not at all precise. That said, it could be me, not the trackball, that's why I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and awarding 3 stars to the trackball. If you don't have one, don't experiment with this. Disappointing. Going back to the land of mice.

I really had high hopes for this...I even bought 2 at once. Everything about it was awesome. The layout, the buttons, the functions, hell it's even sexy...if a trackball mouse can be sexy. I was using it and liking it and then it happened. I needed to make a precise movement and the trackball became "sticky". Not sticky like tape, or jelly, or whatever, but sticky like if you stripped down naked and you tried to take your bare ass down a metal slide on a warm day. I kept using it though, because it wasn't ALL the time, but the more I used it the more it made me mad. I thought, "maybe I got a bad one", so I opened the other package and to my dismay, it had the same issue. I really wanted to give this 3 stars, but because of the "stickiness" I can't even use them. I'm sad x 2.

Este producto me parece esepcional por 3 aspectos: 1.- Es alambrico por lo tanto nunca requiere de cambios de pila o recarga de las mismas. 2.-Es fácil de dar mantenimiento, ya que la esfera se puedes desprender para da limpieza a los sensores y la esfera. 3.- Es súper ergonómico, ya que no castigas el túnel carpiano. Las únicas desventajas que encontré son las siguientes: 1.- Al principio es difícil acostumbrarse a su uso, pero una vez adaptado al uso es súper fácil de usar. 2.- el utilizar productos como cremas humectantes o residuos de maquillaje o grasa en las manos hace que los sensores se vuelva algo imprecisos es notorio cuando esto pasa ya que dificulta mucho realizar acciones precisas, la solución es la limpieza de los sensores y esfera con un poco alcohol y un cotonete.

It's not easy going from a mouse to a trackball, but this ended up easier than I expected. Still getting used to the new buttons, but they work well and are pretty intuitive. I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment on that. I can say that there are drivers available for Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS), and both that and Windows 10 recognized it immediately, and the buttons map perfectly.

Da sieht man warum die japanische Firma ELECOM einen guten Ruf genießt. Das Produkt spricht für sich selbst. Einerseits mögen die Teile nicht so sauber und fest sitzen, wie bei dem einen oder anderen teureren Produkt. Aber dafür ist der Trackball jetzt auch nicht übermäßig teuer und man kann auch nicht behaupten, dass Dinge wirklich locker wären. Kritisch, also wirklich kritisch gesehen, wackeln das Mausrad, der DPI-Schalter und die Forward-/Backward-Tasten einige Bruchteile eines Millimeters, aber aber nicht so, dass man das ernsthaft als locker beschimpfen könne. (Man merkt, ich suche hier wirklich nach Schwächen). Die Wulst innen zum Mausrad hin ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Aber genau das tut man dann auch. Man gewöhnt sich daran. Die Kuhlen für die Finger in den Maustasten sind für mich auch ungewohnt gewesen (Die Form des Trackballs erzeugt eine leicht ungewohnte Stellung der Finger, wie ich finde.), aber auch das ist Gewöhnungssache. Generell weicht die Form etwas von anderen Trackballs, wie einem Logitech MX Ergo oder dem Perixx PERIMICE-517, ab. Generell von der allgemeinen, 0815, rundlichen Mausform. Wer mit solchen ergonomischen Abweichungen Schwierigkeiten hat, wird vielleicht unzufrieden sein. Ich empfehle es aber trotzdem noch zu testen, denn der Trackball ist nicht so schlecht. Die Forward-/Backward-Tasten sind schön an der Seite und ich habe sie niemals versehentlich ausgelöst. Sehr schön. Hatte ich bei diesen für mich ungewollten Tasten schon anders erlebt bei anderen Modellen. Top. (Die Fingerkuhle hilft dabei auch ein Bisschen, nicht versehentlich an diese zu kommen.) Das Mausrad hat vom Feeling her einzelne Schwellen beim Drehen. (Weit verbreitet bei vielen Modellen. Sie werden das sicherlich selber schon kennen. Also normal.) Man kann das Rad aber auch etwas nach links und rechts kippen (klicken), um damit seitlich zu scrollen. Sehr schön. Zum eigentliche Trackball: Standard Größe der Kugel, wie beim Logitech MX Ergo oder dem Perixx PERIMICE-517. Ich konnte die Kugeln alle untereinander austauschen und die haben gepasst. Kratziger (und damit etwas unpräziser) als beim Logitech MX Ergo aber weniger kratzig (und spürbar präziser) als beim Perixx PERIMICE-517. Was meine ich mit "kratzig" und "präzise"? Bei einem Trackball gibt es einen Anfangswiderstand, den man mit dem Daumen erst überwinden muss, um die Kugel zu bewegen. Der Kraftaufwand hierbei ist winzig und bei normaler Nutzung ist der Widerstand eigentlich nicht spürbar. Aber wenn man den Mauszeiger nur einige Pixel bewegen möchte, kann das dazu führen, dass die Kugel etwas "fest hängt" und dann, wenn sie sich löst, einen klitze-kleine Satz macht, der aber dann 1-3 Pixeln zu viel entspricht, als man den Mauszeiger bewegen wollte. Damit haben sehr viele Trackballs im Billig-Segment zu kämpfen. Beim ELECOM EX-G (dieser Trackball hier) war die Krazigkeit anfangs schon recht gering und ist, positiver weise, noch weicher geworden. Nach einem Jahr Nutzung ist sie aber leider noch nicht gänzlich verschwunden. Dennoch sollte Logitech trotzdem Angst haben, denn es ist alles auf brauchbarem Niveau. Ich bin zufrieden. Besonderheiten: - Der erwähnte Kipptaster des Mausrades zum seitlichen Scrollen. - Der Ringfinger hat eine weiter Taste (Hardwaregebunden und damit nicht anders belegbar), der die DPI-Abtastung feiner einstellt und damit die Maussteuerung langsamer und präziser macht. (So gewöhnungsbedürftig, dass ich das Feature leider nicht mein eigen machen konnte. Aber schön das es es gibt.) - Und der Haupt-DPI-Schalter ist tatsächlich ein mechanischer Schalter und nicht nur eine Taste, die am wiederholt drücken muss. Gut. Was mir nicht so gefallen hat: Ich stoße manchmal mit der linken oberen Spitze des Trackballs an meine eigene Tastatur und die Ecke gehört leider zur linken Maustaste, denn die Taste lugt etwas über den Rahmen hinaus. Das führt dann dazu dass ich dann entweder versehentlich klicke oder das Klicken gestört wird. Im zweiten Fall merke ich das nicht sofort und wundere mich, warum die Taste klemmt, bis ich runterschaue und mich über meine eigene Dummheit ärgere. Ich bin versucht mit einer Kneifzange Abhilfe zu schaffen, aber naja. Also etwas aufpassen. Tja. Im Großen und Ganzen bin ich mit der Wertigkeit zufrieden. Der Trackball macht anfangs vielleicht einen (ganz-ganz kleinen) leicht klapprigen Eindruck, der aber für die Preisklasse normal ist, ist aber dann doch sehr wertig. Die Form ist spürbar leicht anders, aber man gewöhnt sich. Schöne, kleine Features. Japp, ein schönes Gerät. Jetzt muss es nur noch weitere Jahre halten. Aber ELECOM hat ja einen guten Ruf, also hoffe ich aus das Beste.
