ONSENONSEN® Towel - 100% Supima Cotton, Lightweight (Denim Blue, XL - Bath Sheet)

We purchased two Onsen Bath Towel, to see if we have a real difference between a traditional bath towel and the Japanese Onsen bath Towel. The answer is - YES - a real great differences, very absorbent, some traditional towel are not bad regarding to absorbing - but Onsen are way better, and the great improvement for us, is the smell. We had to change our towels every two days, because they never dry totally during the summer. I take minimum two shower a day, and sometimes three. The towel was not totally dry between two shower, that mean they start to be stinky. The Onsen one hours / one and half hours later it’s totally dry, and few days later, they still smells fresh and clean. We love them, and we will change all our towels from our homes with only Onsen towels! Highly recommended !

On the other hand if you want a towel that looks terrific, performs as intended and is a pleasure to use, read on.1. Looks terrific: These towels have a relaxed, upscale, minimalist look without being fussy. The colors are slightly muted, organic, nature inspired. Nothing garish here. All the colors would look good together. The soft waffle weave texture contrasts the hard, shiny materials in bathrooms.2. Performs as intended: I believe a bath towel is intended to dry you after a shower or bath. I was surprised by how well these towels do that. I wasn't even what I was looking for that. The waffle weave probably doubles the surface area of the towel.I am puzzled by all the reviews claiming that they're not absorbent, because that is not my experience. One reviewer claims they're not absorbent, and in the next breath talks about the fabric softener she used. As I understand it, dryer sheets and softeners coat the fibers with something that gives the illusion of softness. At the same time, it interferes with the absorbency of the fabric. My neighbor put me onto wool dryer balls (Amazon has them) instead of dryer sheets. They fluff up the clothes, prevent static and don't interfere with absorbency. Wash them in cold water, e-dry them on low and don't use softeners or dryer sheets. See if that makes a difference.3. Pleasure to use: The first time I used them, their lightness and thinness was off-putting. But I got over it quickly because they worked so well. Their lightness actually makes them easier to handle. Schlepping a thick, heavy towel is not required. When I soap up the wash cloth, the soap doesn't get lost deep in terry cloth nap. And I really knew I was getting scrubbed. That was another unexpected pleasure.They wash up nice as described above, and I'm getting very little dryer lint out of them. Because of the stretchiness of waffle weave, folding them was a challenge. I ended up rolling them instead. I fold the bath towel into quarters, and roll it separately. I fold the hand towel lengthwise and roll the folded washcloth inside it. When I stack them on top of the bath towel, I can fit four complete sets on one 22 inch shelf. That's half the space needed for terry cloth towels.I have no intentions to go back to terry cloth.

Too expensive

For the price, I was expecting a better product. The towel is very thin, you can hold it up to the light and see through it. It could maybe even be used as a scarf. I don't think this towel would hold up as a regular use day spa towel. I wouldn't say it was lusciously soft either, very middle of the road. It does have a nice waffle pattern, so i might leave it out as a decoration towel.

Got this as a gift. Good enough that I bought my partner one too. Dries quick, absorbent, and good size/material.

I bought these as a replacement for my (discontinued) Aquis microfiber bath towels. While I do like the Onsen towels better than traditionally thick cotton bath towels, they are pricey. They absorb well and dry faster than traditional cotton towels. Love the length of the bath sheet. If there's a price drop, I'd consider buying them again.

It's large, soft, and absorbent. The ONLY thing I really would love to add would be a little loop on the edge so that I could hang the towel more easily on my wall hook. I hate things hanging on the shower door, so I prefer to hang my towels on a hook... but this towel is difficult to get to stay.

Most amazing towel ever! Very light, soft and extremely absorbent. Seems to magically wick the water away after a shower or bath it and dries fast. Will never go back to a regular towel again, not even the luxury towels can compete. Would be nice if they had some brighter colors.

Onsen offre des produits d’une magnifique qualité.Cette couleur (ocre) n’est vraiment pas parmi mes préférées. Les photos promo la montrent bcp plus claire et lumineuse qu’elle ne l’est en réalité. Petit détail comparé au plaisir de les utiliser.

I really wanted to love these towels but I really do not understand what all the hype is about. They do dry faster than other towels but I live in a pretty dry climate so that is not a huge appeal. And for the price, I could have bought many more other very nice towels. I would not buy again.

Saw a national review somewhere saying that these were the ‘new best towel’ so I bought the bery pricey bath sheet and a hand towel. I don’t usually pay so much (over $100 for the bath sheet, $28 for the hand towel) I don’t understand how anyone could think these are good for toweling off after a shower or a bath. They’re very thin and don’t wick the moisture off at all. Rather they move it from one part of the body to another. Unfortunately I don’t think I can retire the sheet as I’ve used it, but the unused hand towel is going back.What a rip off.
