Bim Bam Boom/Theme From The "In" Crowd

These two albums that make up this CD release may not be related, but they are perfectly complementary. The music is magical, joyful, peppy, energetic, optimistic. I'm in my 40's, and I never thought I'd be playing the kind of music my late grandparents used to play in the house. Mr. Faith was a genius. Sure, this is instrumental, 60's pop that the cool kids weren't playing from their Corvairs and Mustangs, but it surely sounds hip to me in 2016. It's an aural treat. I have been a huge fan of Percy Faith since high school. To some his orchestra performs "elevator music." I suspect that they fear the onset of Tourette's if they listen more than a few seconds. If you listen carefully, and I have no idea what the technical term for this might be, in his arrangements of familiar music, you can hear different instruments in the background accompanying the melody in an interesting variety of ways. To my ear it is like a musical bouquet with vibrant colors and fragrances that is just absolutely pleasing, unless you happen to loathe "elevator music."

And it is Percy Faith. What's not to like? Bim, Bam, Boom and Themes for the "In" Crowd are two "must haves" if you are a Percy Faith or exotica music lover. Some relaxing music will melt your cares away. Bim Bam Boom, Reza, Sim, Samba De Orfeu, Nao Tem Problema, Enlloro, The "In" Crowd, A Lover's Concerto, Here It Comes Again, thunderball and See You Around are my personal favorites - although there are no weak tracks on this release.

This is one that I wish I could give 4.5 stars to. I absolutely love Bim! Bam! Boom! However, I only like Themes for the "In" Crowd. The Latin beat comes through clearly on Bim! Bam! Boom!. i enjoyed the tunes on the second album, but they weren't as striking. The reason I rounded up from 4.5 was that I loved Yesterday, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, and Thunderball.

Another wonderful double-pack of two wonderful albums from the master of strings!!!; the first, with the typical latin flavour, simply enchanted, melancholic, outstanding and very danceable; the second, full of great 60's standards which were chart-toppers, always played with excellent strings and percussion arrangements that are the personal style of the master Faith... This kind of music and directors like this made listening a sublime experience for the ears!!! Enjoy it!!!

This is one of the highlights of the Percy Faith discography. Faith was an excellent interpreter of Latin music, and Bim Bam Boom! is a showcase for his talents. His repertoire of Latin music goes back to his own tune, Brazilian Sleigh Bells, recorded as far back as 1950. Bim Bam Boom! is full of exciting rhythms, rich sounding orchestrations, orchestral vigor, and, when required, a lightness of touch. Music for the In Crowd is a wonderful companion album. The orchestral style Percy Faith had evolved by 1965 was warm and nuanced, a truly classic treatment of the music of that era. My two favorite orchestrations are A Lover's Concerto, with a tune from Bach, and Everyone's Going to the Moon. Faith's trademark harpsichord writing is noticeable on some of these items. This is really an indispensable CD for Percy Faith fans.

This is a need for a Percy Faith fan, and if you are not one of those, well, you need to purchase that one.I am a real magestik fan of music of every "genre", and that one,bless my heart with so many melodic sounds that i can't even explain it.I was born at the end of the sixties,and my father used to listen that kind of music when i was young,but since,i think my mind stuck with that kind of music.It is a VERY sixtie album,by the way.Open your mind a little bit....You have to reach other kind of style in music.That one has disapeared in time since is debute.Try it , you won't be disapointed.Percy Faith is a genius...

1965年発表"Themes For The"In"Croud"と、1966年発表の”Bim!Bam!!Boom!!!" の2枚です｡67年以降のアルバムは比較的に早い時期(といっても二十数年前) ほとんど入手できたのですが、この2枚より前はなかなか見つからなかったり 揃わなかったりしていたので、待望のアルバムが2枚一度に聴けてHappyな気 分です｡ タイトルにもなったBim!Bam!!Boom!!!の弾けるサウンド、Simではしっとり聴かせ， パーシーのオリジナルTropic Holidayと続くOye Negraでまたリズムにのせ、 Maracangalha・Voodoo Moonでしめる曲の配列は、およそ30分の時間を とても短く感じさせてくれます。 後半”Themes For In The"In"Crowd"では、当時のヒットナンバーを軽快な アレンジを中心に聞かせてくれています。

ニューサウンドに挑戦するパーシーの努力は認めるが、やはりストリングスを中心に ゴージャスなサウンドを聴かせてくれる６０年代の作品の方が良い。 録音は素晴らしいので、☆４つ
