Imperial Cat Black Dachshund Scratch 'n Shape, Large

I wish they wouldn't print the company logo/information on the dachshund's rear -- it spoils the decorative effect. My cats like it because it offers a no-"No!" scratching opportunity. But I think it is rather cheap-looking. Let's see how long it lasts... It's also rather small. I should have looked closer at the measurements when I ordered it but felt assured by the picture -- they must have used a small kitty for the photo because my Dexter hangs over.I bought the Scratcher Lounge by PetFusion several years ago. I still have it and although it's been in constant use it still looks decent and so I expected a similar quality from this dog, but it almost looks like a home hobby project.UPDATE: I've been falling over this dog several times now as I got up in the morning. My cat drags the lounger through the house!! He either wants to make clear to me what he thinks of dogs or he's telling me to give this thing up for adoption.FINAL UPDATE: 3 months later -- this dog was humanely recycled.

First, yes, I should have read the actual dimensions. But I let myself be mislead by the very cute picture. The cat in this picture is either very small, or a kitten; the pad itself is very small. But the main problem is the design. In order for the catnip not to leak to the bottom, all that is provided is a sheet of paper that does not even cover the entire necessary surface,and is attached with very weak glue. Since the pad is so small, my cats pushed it around, the sheet was detached and all the lose catnip made a mess. So I cannot recommend this product!

The photo is a bit of an optical illusion. The cat on the scratching board is apparently quite young and therefore small. My cat is a full grown cat, and is rather small comparatively, and when she lays on the scratching board she hangs off both ends. But, she likes it none-the-less.

I ordered this "Dachshund Recycled Paper Scratching Board" and paid more than double from the last one I had (a Catit) because the the dimensions of this were supposed to be larger. Not so! It says it is 26 inches long. It is only 20". Never again will I order this one. It will get used, just not by the biggest of our 3 cats who loves to lounge on her scratching pads. The PetFusion one may be the next purchase, even if it does cost a lot more, because the reviews were very good and it may last longer. I should have gone with my first choice!

The product is much smaller than it appears to be in person. My cat is a small guy and he couldn't stretch out on the scratcher as pictured. The cat scratcher is made out of cardboard and is basically the same as the scratchers I can get at Trader Joe's for under $10. To add insult to injury, my cat decided that rather than scratch it, he'd prefer to eat it and started chewing hunks out it!

I originally bought this as a joke because my sister has a weiner dog that my cats hate. Well, jokes on me because my cats love this thing. They are scratching it to the point I will have to buy a new one soon because they are tearing it apart. My only gripe is that it tears apart easily to the point I am vacuuming around it everyday because it just shreds and gets all over my dining room.

The cat misleads you. It's probably a tiny kitten. See my photo of my normal tabby cat on it. The whole surface is the size of a large human hand. I am disappointed in the product and it's definitely not good value. BUT the cat loved it into shredded oblivion and gives it five stars.

Sturdy and lasts a long time. I have purchased the scratchers that fit in the stands and they fall apart in days, leaving huge amounts of shredded cardboard in a 2 foot radius around the scratcher stand....not to mention that the cat can pull the cardboard unit out of the stand, so the mess is spread out even more. That kind lasts around a week at the most for my cat....using both sides!This stand has lasted my 17 lb rag doll cat, that is very strong, for 3 weeks and I suspect it will last him at least another 3 weeks....very little mess! And he loves to lay on it just as the photo shows.
