Great collection of meals
Solid deal depending on price at time you are looking to buy. So definitely do the math on buying individual meals before purchasing. It was cheaper to buy this kit for me. All info below is based on tastes of our group of 4 after section hiking the Appalachian trail. Breakfast skillet-we all liked it to varying degrees. The eggs are the worst part as they are tasteless almost styrofoam in nature. But the overall flavor was solid and it definitely was a nice energy boost for the tough hikes that day. A C+ grade but all 4 said they would eat again. Granola with blueberries/milk-only 2 of us had this one and both thought it was amazing. Something we would eat at home. You need COLD water though in my opinion (we captured enough cold rain but boiling some and putting it aside to completely cool would work). Hot water still works obviously but hot milky granola didn’t appeal to us at the time. A+ grade for flavor. Felt like home but at 2800 feet of elevation. Well done. Beef Stoganoff- 3 of us had this one and all really liked it. Very filling and flavor is really good. The meat adds to it not just a styrofoam tasting filler. All 3 of us would definitely eat this one again without a doubt. A solid B+ Overall but me personally would give an A. Rice and chicken-I was the only one to have this one. My rating is a solid B+ due to flavor and the fact the chicken had flavor as well. Some meals like chicken fettuccine the chicken is like styrofoam but not the case here. Small bits of chicken that added flavor to the bites. Enjoyed it and would eat again next time.

Reliable Camp Food Kit
Took this Mountain House weekend kit on a remote camping trip last summer. No duds in the bunch - everything was actually edible, which is saying something for freeze-dried meals. Only real issue? The water measurements and sitting times seem more like suggestions than rules. Had to play it by ear - some meals needed extra time, others ended up a bit soupy. What you need to know: - All meals actually palatable - Good variety in the kit - Easy to prepare - Water ratios need adjusting - Pack works for a weekend - Simple enough to make Pro tip: Start with slightly less water than suggested - you can always add more, but can't take it out. Bottom line: Solid choice for weekend camping trips. Just be ready to experiment with water amounts and timing.

Backpacking, good taste.
Great flavors. Mountain house has always been a great backpacking food. This is a good value for a weekend. I usually have a few left over.

Delicious, comforting, nutritious
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but none the less, I trekked out with these questionable bags of freeze dried food in my pack. I was actually quite delighted. Some of them needed a little extra love and care in order to be truly good… I found if I added extra water and simmered it on the stove, it actually boiled down the seasoning and softened the food a little better, but all in all, I would definitely use these again. They tasted really good. That said, the bag is a zip lock and is made for 2 meals at once, and I was solo. I am glad I put it in my dry bag, because the ziplock just didn’t stay closed and so my last meal was “Mountain House Detritus” from the bottom of my bag. Not exactly my most gourmet choice, but it was good.

Easy portable food that tastes good
These are great for the hikers in the family due to portability. They are also great for the work week lunches. If you have a job where it is hard to leave for lunch (or you just don't want too), these will store indefinitely in your desk drawer, are easy to make, and taste good. They are no more expensive than fast food and probably a whole lot better for you. They are a little on the bland side, but you can always add some spice. Definitely a good deal in my book.

At £45 for a box of 6 meals this represents excellent value for money. These meals are hard to come by in the UK but seeing as these were on offer I decided to order 3 boxes. I Ordered on Sunday afternoon and they arrived the following Saturday so 6 days from the US to the UK. The 3 boxes all have an BBE date of 2053 and they cost me a total of £147 (including shipping and taxes) for 18 meals with each meal containing 2 portions. Overall a great deal.
