TOPPING D30 DSD USB DAC Stereo Digital Audio Decoder Coaxial Optical Fiber XMOS CS4398 24Bit/192kHz DC15V (Black)

12/19/20 I bought the D30 for one specific task... to upgrade the sound coming out of an old SACD/CD playerthe Marantz DV9600. I found the sound coming out the RCA going into a headphone amp or going to my stereo receiver was not as transparent and the soundstage lacked separation. If I plugged the same headphones (Focal Utopia) directly into the Marantz Headphone output, I got a much wider soundstage, more transparent, bass was tighter with depth and the highs were crisp. I thought updating the DAC would help.I connected the “coaxial” out from the Marantz DV9600 into the “coaxial” of the D30. The RCA out from the D30 into my Yamaha two channel receiver. Right out the box cold it was a noticeable difference in the soundstage being wider and the instruments sounded more natural. The bass was tight and deep but not in the way. Jill Scott’s voice was great with full of emotion. I expect it will improve after about 20-30 hours. The D30 will not recognize the SACD signal but plays all other CDs perfectly. That has more to do with the Marantz on how it will send the signal for two channel.Next I am going to put a HDMI I2s converter in between the Marantz and the D30 using HDMI cables. RCA out from the D30 to the receiver to see if I can get the D30 to recognize the SACD signal.Overall, cold and right out the box I am very very pleased. It’s doing exactly as I hoped. I would purchase it again and recommend it to anyone needing a very good budget DAC or needs to improve the sound of an old CD/SACD player. I do not intend to use the D30 on a computer or Digital Audio Player and cannot offer an opinion.

Be aware of seller. The product was stated "Like-New", it was defective, surged loud pops that destroyed my tweeter.

Once all drivers were installed and Foobar 2000 was configured this plugged in and worked right out of the box. I have a Marantz cd player and used coax to run it to this Dac. I then switched my preamp back and forth from the cd player input to the dac input and could hear no difference at all. I assume the internal Marantz dac is pretty good as it is a highly rated cd player, so this unit sounds at least as good as that. I have been playing wav and flac files from my computer using the usb input for the d30 and they sound identical to the cd to me. I do not yet have any dsd files, so can't comment on that yet. Very satisfied with this so far for the price.

I up-converted my CDs to 192K in Windows Media Player... Which I stored in a Porsche Design LaCie HDD... I connected the drive to my Cambridge Audio NP30 and am decoding the High-res audio signal with the Topping D30 DAC with Sparkling Clarity... The seller DiLiS-Hifi has been in this business for 7 years and is very professional.

It's not pricey, it makes the sound more detailed and great, so it makes me happy by the way.
