The cardioid polar pattern reduces unwanted sounds from the sides and rear, enhancing the isolation of the desired sound source. Now, let's talk about the downsides. It would have been great if a windscreen was included in the package, as it's an essential accessory for minimizing plosives and improving audio quality. Additionally, the stand, while functional, could be more stable. It might wobble a bit, especially if you're working in a busy environment. This mic is pretty great. It is a dynamic microphone which means its 'less' sensitive than a condenser microphone and you have to speak/sing very close. The quality and clarity is actually insanely good for such an affordable microphone. The best part is the USB-C output so you can easily connect to your PC or laptop to use. There is also an audio jack for headphones to monitor your voice. And of course the standard XLR connection. Something important to note, the microphone came with a type C cable to use, and I have tried using another type C charger cable and it did NOT work. Its possible you need a certain kind of type c? am not too sure, didn't look into it, but something to be aware of.... The stand it comes with is sufficient if you really needed a stand, but it wobbles and its small. It is a small standard looking microphone, but it has some heft to it (feels high quality). I recommend a small microphone foam filter for pops if you're doing recorded voice work. Not necessary but its helpful.

I bought this mic with the intention to use it for commentary, podcasts and on-set recording. The sound quality is phenomenal, super crisp and clean with very little static. I hooked this bad boy up to both my zoom h4 via 48v phantom power and directly to my computer running my capture software, and the sound quality holds up on both ends, I can only imagine the magic this thing can make with a decent audio interface. I will say the one down side is that the mic stand it comes with is very, and I mean VERY, V E R Y cheaply made. The build of it is entirely made of plastic with loose and flimsy joints, so be prepared to upgrade to a more heavy duty stand at some point(which is what people should be doing in the first place instead of basing their initial review of this product on the quality of the stand alone lol, get good dummies). That being said, it's a very small and petty price to pay for a pro-sumer mic of spectacular quality. Pair this with a proper shock-mounted stand and BAM: pro audio in a pinch. Overall, the mic is an absolute must for beginners and pros alike. The price point might be high, but Audio technica has always been a considerable "high end" brand on the pro-sumer market, compared to premiums like Senheiser or Sony, but still offers quality without significantly denting your budget. ALSO, something to note for owners of the OG ATR 2100: I've had experience in using the original 2100(the silver one) from a friend. The sound quality is the same and has the same harware with the exception of the mini usb port vs the 2100x's usb type c. I personally think the upgrade from the 2100 to the 2100x is not worth it, but at the same time there are some people who would look at the updated hardware as a plus.

High quality sound. A solid little mic. Trouble is, it doesn't work with all the various online meeting platforms people keep asking me to use. I keep having to set it up anew every time I have to use it on something different. This could be my fault, but I wish it was more intuitive.

Great recording microphone for any phone. Has a low impedance output for house sound and a digital out for phone or computer. My wife is a choir director and we make recording for the choirs to learn their songs. For years we used the phone mike it made adequate recordings, then we bought a popular mike (that looks like a SM7) and we were surprise how much the recordings improved today we recorded with the Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone with USB and XLR Outputs and we were really impressed. Really clear fidelity a mile apart from our prior microphone. It's a keeper. More good things: - it includes an XLR cable, has a real on and off switch, and has two USB cables one to a phone and for a computer. I did not need to buy any adapters. The microphone comes with a stand that sort of works. Yes it holds up the mike if the mike is balanced right. But I am really happy with the fidelity of the microphone. The build quality of the mike is also impressive seems to be all metal - looks similar to a SM58. Wow.

This was a great bang for your buck mic... however right after the return window closed the usb connection stopped working. Tried multiple cables on multiple computers and nothing. Unfortunately I do not have an XLR interface to try... but very frustrating. Currently going through the support route with Audio-Technica. UPDATE (5/28/2024): After a fairly painless communication chain with Audio-Technica, they sent me a replacement unit. This unit worked perfectly... for about a week and a half before succumbing to the same issue as the original unit. Currently waiting to hear back from them again. FINAL UPDATE (7/2/2024): Well, they AT ended up sending me a 2nd replacement and... again after a few weeks I come to find that the mic will refuse to be detected on multiple computers using multiple cables... I really like this mic but will probably be looking for another option after 3 failed units failing almost in the exact same way. Not sure how common this issue is, but buyer beware.

The microphone is a nice piece of kit, and should work for most people. (As everyone else has mentioned, the stand is flimsy and don't even waste your time with it). But here's my issue: I have it hooked up via XLR through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and it randomly cuts out. I've tried it via USB, and get the same problem. There's some sort of auto-gain function within the microphone that attempts to compensate for varying levels of loudness in your speech by adjusting the microphone to always hold a consistent volume. I don't know if it's my speaking cadence, but when I go back to watch/edit my podcast, there are times where you can see my mouth moving but no sound was transmitted by the mic - the "auto-gain" turned to zero and didn't capture anything. Maybe it's a glitch in the microphone? Maybe slightly turning my head to look at a 2nd monitor took me just far enough away from the pickup pattern that it thought my voice was now a background noise to cut out? I've sent this one back for an exchange, and we'll see if that fixes the issue (and I'll update the review if it does). But heads up, it may not work for a professional who has control over their own setup.

Certainly there are better microphones, but they are also more expensive. The ATR2100X-USB is a multipurpose microphone that can be used efficient for webcasts, teleconferences, on-line gaming and any other similar activity.

For beginners, sound quality Decent mic for those who want to record at home. So far it has seemed quite reliable. Best part is the multiple connectivity options it gives. Xlr to xlr(not using this), usb c to usb a(laptop), usb c to usb c (phone).. direct phone connection for recording is an amazing feature in terms of ease of recording. Doesn't need a seperate battery or any charging for itself. ( Relief from one more charging device) Haven't recorded a lot yet, but whatever little I did sounded good. Maybe bit of setting in the recording software can improve it.

Works really well for voice work, it doesn’t pick up every little sound around you which is ideal for my use case. The mic is solid it’s built like a battle ship, really pleased with my purchase.
