Does the fit a 2012 sportster seventy-two xl1200v?

I think it will but not totally sure.

does it fit a 2005 883 sportster

It fit my 2006 Sportster 1200 and Harley doesn't change things very often so I would be surprised if it did not fit a 2005. Also I just checked the list of motorcycles it fits and yours is on it.

Can I use Synthetic Oil with this filter?

Yes. I have used synthetic oil for at least 15 years now & have used the K&N filter with it. Have had no problems.
