Miniature Version is Useless
I intended to buy the full normal version of this book. I didn't realize that by picking "hardback" I was going to get the miniature version instead. Very misleading... For that misunderstanding I would be tempted to give this 0/5 stars.Focusing on this book, it's a very cute size. There aren't any pictures (though it does include a few comic pages) which makes it not-so-fitting for a child. The book is very pointless for any adult, especially one who has had any experience with a cat. I say this because although the book holds a lot of good information that might be new to a reader (like myself), any adult looking to learn more about cats would get frustrated from the small volume of this book. They would probably be seeking a larger "real" book on the topic to learn as much as they can. At the end of reading this miniature book I had wished there was more information, but how could that be expected from such a small book?I would pass on this book. It really is not worth getting. You could get the full version of "Cats for Dummies" for just a few cents more, so why get this one? Note - That version is only available in "paperback" - at least at the time of writing this review. If you choose "hardback" it might automatically switch to this miniature book. This book (in case you already have one or it's $1 at a store nearby) would be useful to give to a teenager who is just learning about a cat and trying to make a decision on getting one. This book would also be a nice donation gift for an animal shelter to give as a freebie to adoptive owners.

Informative and Down to Earth
This book taught me a lot about how to properly take care of my first cat. If you have any questions at all about owning a cat, this book can answer it, from how to handle behavioral problems, to litter box training, to the issue of declawing (which this book handles with poise and respect, presenting the two viewpoints fairly in a way I've never seen in other books about this touchy topic). While the sheer size of the book can be daunting, it's split into handy sections within chapters, and you can usually find a section relevant to your personal problems and questions very easily. My favorite section was one of the last chapters, which listed common myths about cats and funny quotes about our feline friends. All in all, if you're looking for a book with all the information you could ever need, handled in a fair and light manner, this is the book for you. And if you're looking for just one book on cats, this is it.

A great reference book to have
Have been a cat owner for years but no matter how long you have had your furbabies there are still things you need to know but most of all, that you can learn and this book is just such a book. Gives you insight to all kinds of info you need to know about your furbaby and if you are planning on adding a kitten to your family this is a great book of info you need to start with. Fast shipping, mint condition highly recommend this seller

Easy Read, Perfect for Cat newbies!
I loved this book. I started reading another book about cat care and found it to be very bias about certain things. This book gives you all the sides & opinions of controversial topics {like de-clawing} and gives you all the information in an easy-to-read format. I've never had a cat before and people will tell you all kinds of things about cats that aren't really true. I loved learning from this book and feeling like I knew everything I needed to know to give our new cat just want he needs. If you are new to cats {or even if you aren't} I would highly recommend this book to give your cat the best care.

Okay but read it with a grain of salt!
Some good information but also some that I disagree with. Particularly the stance on outside cats and the noticeable decline of song birds. This book questions that, where it is a generally accepted fact. I know that my 12 year old cat (that I inherited from my deceased mother) has killed many birds in her hunting career. She is now an inside cat that goes outside only on a leash. There are other things that I question in the book. It doesn't seem to be the best general reference book. Sort of disappointed as usually the "For Dummies" books are pretty good.
