Stories from the Life of Porter Rockwell

We are just starting to read it but we like it so far excited to go try to find some of his properties in Utah. My friend I am reading it with I think she is related to the author.

This is an easy read that keeps a neutral view on the life of a very interesting man. It uses many different accounts of him including his enemies as well as his friends. It is a great story about a unique man and I love the way it is written. So far, 3 members of our family have read it.

This well written and a very good look at Porter Rockwell's life. He went all across the continent (and the west) many time for the transportation of the time. VERY interesting man! I assume it's one of the best books on his life considering he didn't leave a journal and was illiterate (by all accounts I've read or heard) He was mentioned once or twice in this book as signing his name with an "X".I happen to live just a couple of miles of one of his old houses. It's not there anymore. In fact I believe the entire mountain has been excavated at the spot where he had a long time home.I got the actual hard cover book but if you want to read it with a kindle or other, its great. I would of have given 5 stars but there is more on his life somewhere. There must be. I wish it had all available info, although this was written by a relative of Rockwell, a lot of detail is left out, however detail might just be speculation at this point. I wish there were more detail on his thinking. Being unable to write it would be inaccurate anyway.

Haven’t read it in a couple of years but noticed I didn’t have it in my library of books so I thought I’d remedy that. My kids all enjoyed this book too.

Easy read and very informative. If you are interested in Porter Rockwell you must read this book.

I have read this book twice now and will read it again. Porter Rockwell is an amazing man. He was a rough diamond but an honest man with incredible loyalty to Joseph Smith. He was and loved and feared by many.

This was an interesting book for the most part, but I felt it was poorly written. Details at times were lacking, and the author probably could have written in a more engaging way. He seemed to just present the stories, but I'm guessing he didn't have enough detail to expound on some of the stories like I would have liked.

This was an outstanding book. I read it cover to cover in just a couple days and then shared it with a young man who was named after him. His parents are now reading the book and enjoying it just as much as I did. Thank you Amazon. Shirlee Jacobsen
