Works great, but it discolors the finish underneath it.
We got the stair mats about 8 or 9 months ago, so we've gone through fall, winter, and spring, the times when they are most needed. We bought the mats because we were very concerned about the safety of people coming to our front door. The porch and steps get dangerously slick at times, and I've taken a fall myself. The mats work great, stay in place, and I no longer have to worry about people slipping on our steps. I also like the design, and they continue to look good. I would have given them 5 stars except for the fact that they completely discolor the finish they are sitting on. I refinished our porch (huge job) last summer using the highest quality finish I could find (Cabots), so I was less than pleased to see the damaged. However, perhaps it's just the nature of the beast when using rubber; our rubber front door mat has caused the same problem. Despite the staining problem, the stair mats do the job that we got them for; keeping visitors safe when they come to our front door.

STINKY
The are a lot flimsier than expected. They come with double sided tape randomly applied here and there that are supposed to hold them to the steps... They are staying put but you can easily move them. One thing I am really not enjoying is that they STINK! It seems like a strange thing to complain about but the odor is VERY strong like gasoline/rubber mixed. They have been on my front steps (outdoors) for over a month now and every time I walk up or down the steps the smell is still overpowering. Hoping it goes away soon! I do like the design and am hoping that they give a bit of tread in the rain as they look like they may be kind of slippery, they have a pretty smooth surface.

The sticky doesn't really work but they are nice and do the job
These are very nice to look at compared to other step guards I have looked at. The sticky on the back really doesn't work. On one when I pealed the white backing off the sticky stayed attached to the backing and came clean off the mat. The others all worked fine. I am not sure how well they would stay attached to the steps. Maybe that one was a fluke, can't say for sure. I ended up using a staple gun to attach them to my wood steps. A contact adhesive would probably work for other materials. They work very well for giving a non-slip surface and I plan on buying more for the price.

it's what I wanted and the grip is good. Good price
Whatever you do, open the package OUTSIDE because it smells sooooo strong. It's a chemical rubber smell. Though it disappeared after about a week out in the sun and rain. Gosh, I don't think an ant would survive the smell if it walked on it. Haha. Anyhow, it's what I wanted and the grip is good. Good price. It also has sticky tape underneath to help keep it in place. Nice.

Pretty good mats
I like the look of these mats, but was warned by reviewers that the adhesive strips on the back did not hold well. I added some double-sided outdoor carpet tape, then weighed it down with a board and cinder block. I believe that did the trick. These are made in China, and like lots of rubber goods produced there now it had a very strong smell to it. I'm sure that will clear up in time. Overall I would order them again.

Not as thick as I had hoped.
The stair treds I purchased were not very thick, only 1/4" thickness. Also, they were smooth and flat, which makes them incapable of taking any snow or ice off your shoes when walking on them. I will have to wait until winter to see how effective they are.I liked the design in them, and they cover more than half the with of my steps. It would have been nice if they were longer. The adeasive that is to stick them to the steps is inadequate to stick them to concrete steps. Mine move around slightly because the sticky stuff only works in random places. They would most likely would work on wood or latex floors better.

great stair mats - little adhesive on the back
First it took over a month for me to receive these. There are very thin strips of adhesive on the back of these that all have to be peeled off. I have 6 steps so it takes a little while to get the strips off - and sometimes the adhesive will not stay. I did not expect these mats to stick - but actually they have and are exactly what I needed to keep the steps from being so slippery.

You get what you pay for
It's all one level and plastic. They do have a nice stick on the back to adhere them to the steps. You get what you paid for in terms of thickness, detail, ext. (I got the middle gaurd from a chain store)
