Not as complicated as it seems.
Time consuming, it ain't lacquer, watch a couple of videos, plus it gave me a reason to buy some everclear. Don't drink the everclear. It's easier than it looks, it's easier than they make it sound, on the YouTube videos. But it is time consuming. And when I say time consuming I mean for 10 or a 12 inch board you're going to have an hour or two involved in it. But it's going to look amazing. Finish is nice and smooth, I didn't get pumice stone when I first did it. I wish I had, It would have filled in all the small grain holes that you don't even really see until you start putting finish on, and would have went a lot faster. I don't use pumus stone now. I use really fine sanding residue from sanding the same wood that I'm polishing. I guess they call that like the British technique versus the French technique. Watched a couple of YouTube videos. Pretty much just added 5 or 10 hours to everything I make now. Just from the finish and the polish, but it looks really cool. As far as making a fid, or a pad to put it on, I just went to Goodwill and bought a bunch of old white cotton t-shirts. Cut them up and there you go. It's a really good finish. It's not as tough as lacquer but it's way better looking

So good!
Great product and very responsive owners. I like making my own cut which is between 1 and 2 pounds. I use this primarily on Guitar bodies and Necks. I lay down the first few coats as a toner using dye stain so the neck will have the hue of the body. Then applying multiple clear coats for the ultimate depth. Sure, I could go the big box and buy Watco lacThat contains n-Butyl Acetate, 2-Propanol, Butanol, Petroleum Distillates, Aromatic hydrocarbons and Ketone...... You get the picture. This is pure, you could eat it as a dry film once the vehicle has evaporated, hence why it's food safe for cutting boards. I do all of my work inside and I am never bothered one bit by the aroma. Not so with the mass produced big named "lacs". This looks so much cleaner as a finished product with the clarity you will not find in the ordinary store-bought stuff.

Works well
It dissolved easily and I applied another finish over the top with no issues so it is dewaxed.

DIY shellac
I wanted to try to make my own shellac, suitably thinned for my purposes, rather than buy a can that had 10X more than I needed, which would deteriorate after about a year. That's exactly what I got - easy enough to measure and make up a small batch, and it worked nicely (and smelled horribly, as expected).

Shellac flakes for the purist
Wonderful shellac flakes perfect for the french polish perfectionist. I follow methods outlines in the book The Furniture Bible: Everything You Need to Know to Identify, Restore & Care for Furniture. I recently took a furniture restoration class and was disappointed to find that the instructured doesn't use traditional methods.Using pure shellac flakes and building mixing your batches will take a lot more time, but the results are pure pleasure every time you look at the piece.

Great product and beat Amazons shipping estimate by a good bit! BUY BUY BUY
I ordered a 1/4lb of this blonde shellac to try out on some tool restorations and wood projects, and Im glad I did. Product is superior and WellerMart shipped lightning fast. Will definitely shop with WellerMart in the future. This is great quality flake shellac with no sign of adulterant/contaminants. I have used it twice now with great results. The price was right too. Thanks WellerMart.

definitely get this!
First time using flakes and mixing my own. This stuff works so much better than the canned shellac, it's like having an entirely different finish. you tube makes proper mixing stupid easy.
