Excellent. I really like that the commentary is not purely academic, but also personal -- challenging me to think about what I just read, or encouraging me about my faith and applying it. I also really like that, in the Gospels, each significant event is numbered in the order it occurred. This gives me a better understanding of the "bigger picture" as to what happened when, which is not necessarily the order in which the gospel writers recorded them. Lots of tables and charts provide useful info. For me, the translation makes things clear in a understandable way that draws me in. I frequently read the same passage in the ESV and sometimes NKJ and it's interesting to note the differences -- sometimes very subtle. I teach a couple of bible studies at a women's addiction recovery program. Some of these women have never opened a bible let alone read it. Some have limited formal education. I find the NLT to be the perfect edition to teach from. I very much recommend the red letter edition. Sometimes just seeing how much red is on (or not on) a page tells its own story. I went with the indexed version. It's fine, but the lettering on the little tabs is hard for me to make out even with my readers. I don't see how they could do it any differently -- but if I had to order again I'd probably pass. Finally, I see some reviews where people complain about the pages being so thin and print-through. Again, with all the commentary and other features, I don't see how they could do any better unless you wanted a 4" think Bible (it's already over 2"!).

Great study resource for those that want a “plain English” explanation and deeper dive on what you are reading. My daughters love theirs and I love mine too! Nice quality and pages can be highlighted without bleed through.

This 3rd Ed. NLV Life Application Study Bible is exactly what I was looking for! My greatly used, but falling apart Bible was crying for replacement.. Easy to read due to the spacing between the words and darker print should work well for seniors like me! The new LA study Bible has the index, dictionary/concordance, and updated maps tabbed in the back of the book. The careful translation conveys the ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts as accurately as possible.

This is the ultimate bible. In bible study, I expressed frustration when reading Romans because sometimes Paul's verbiage is confusing and I don't always get his meaning. One of the members of the group suggested I purchase this bible. I purchased the NLT (New Living Translation) of the Life Application Study Bible that contained all 66 books of the bible with textual footnotes that amplify and explain the above text. It also gives a brief history of people, places and things in the bible. References from other books are listed beside certain verses in each book. I highly recommend this bible for study groups but especially for personal study.

This Bible is fantastic! The cover is a faux leather but it is not stiff, it lays open very nicely just how I had hoped it would. The tabs make it easier for a new beleiver to quickly find a chapter. It has a ribbon for bookmark, and the version of this bible explains also the verses and how they may be reflected and applied in today's world. I have seen this exact Bible for sale for $80 elsewhere, so this price is amazing. I really am happy with this Bible.

This is hands down my favorite bible that I have owned. The text is easy to read, the cover is luxurious and the tabs and bookmark make it super easy to use. I love praying, opening a page and reading what I was meant to read that day. This bible is a wonderful way to get to know the bible on a deeper level.
