This palette box is great. Im absolutely very pleased with it. Its very sturdy not at all like the cheap tins you can buy that flex easy. This palette has little to no flex in its construction and to even make it flex you have to push really hard. The hinge is solid and the rod in the hinges doesnt come out like the cheap tins so it adds peace of mind as well rather than what I used to have to do which is every time I opened and closed one of the cheap tins I had to make sure the bar for the hinges was still there because often times the whole bar would just slide out allowing pieces to come apart. I turned this one into a primaries pochade box with some brushes, paper, 6 tubes, and 9 half pans. It really works out great and it fits easily into my pocket so I can go pretty much anywhere with it. It might have trouble fitting into some jeans where the pocket is shaped odd or if its a shallow pocket but standard size pockets in any jeans should hold this box without issues. It can hold 10 5ml tubes but I chose to keep 6 while using the extra space for 9 half pans and adding in a few colors from another palette. There isnt anything to complain about with this palette. I am 100% happy with this palette and the communications I have had with the company that sells it. Really if you have any questions this company will answer them and you will be glad you bought this palette. For the sake of disclosure I wasnt sent this box for review nor am I affiliated with the seller in any way. I bought this box with my own money and would gladly buy another one. Now that I have a quality palette I dont have to worry about I can focus on the actual paintings I want to make. They are worth the price if not more.

I love this palette! I am one of those people who just cant seem to make do with 12 colors for my travel set, I want them all! Yet I wanted something more compact than my large metal palette. When I encountered this baby, I thought with a few minor tweaks I could turn it into what I was looking for and I was right! By folding down and removing the metal dividers (not easy as this palette is VERY WELL MADE) i managed to be able to fit 29 half pans! Just perfect to carry all my must-haves and all my new colors i want to try! My only pet peeve is the fact that all the colors seem to stain the trays, which is something that doesn’t happen with most of my other palettes, but when it gets too out of control, i just lightly rub it with a sponge and some dishwashing soap and it clears out pretty well. Ive also added a little “made up” support leg for the single right side tray as it does not lay horizontal when you open it but rather has a tilt which makes the pain spill out if you have quite a bit, i did this with just some magnets i drop inside when i close it and its worked well so far.

Over the years I’ve collected a few different kind of watercolor boxes. This one by far is my favorite. I’ve pushed down the dividers and they almost lay flat. With blue tack, I’ve managed to put 21 pans in. 6FP, and 15HP. Perfect companion for travel, urban sketching or Plein air. And also have space to put in 1 travel brush. I’ve tried escoda, rosemary and da Vinci travel brushes all can fit. Lots of space for washes, and mixing color. And price compare with the 16 hp version is much cheaper and not as heavy but very sturdy. What not to like....

Like other reviewers here I folded down the dividers and used the flat space to add my 9 full pans and 11 half pans with blutack. There is also room for a travel brush (Escoda or Da Vinci Maestro). I love the size, small yet not micro in size, with lots of mixing area and convenient ring on the bottom. This seems to be well made, no sharp edges and enamel coating is smooth, I did use a magic eraser on surface to remove whatever coating it is that causes paint to bead... now paint spreads and blends smoothly on surface of palette. It is a beautiful small palette.

This is exactly what I was expecting. Very sturdy, classical, metal travel palette. not crazy about the metal dividers but they aren't really in my way. I have 11 full pans in it. If I took out the dividers I could fit 16 full pans but I work with a limited palette anyway never use all those colors at the same time. I am using the whiskey painter magnetic full pans the magnets are strong. They do fall out but I am thinking super glue will take care of that. This is a great pallet ! I like the magnetic pans also, you can move them easily if you want.

Lovely glossy black finish, matte white inside does stain easily if that bothers you. The reviewer who posted pics of what pans fit in the palette provided a road map for my layout. Very happy with the "goldilocks" just right size of this tin.

Beautiful little travel palette to carry small tubes in. Made very nice. Fit and finish looks good. Haven’t used it yet, but should work fine.

Well worth the money. Very well made and compact size. Great for extended vacations.
