Works well
I needed this to replace the broken battery tray in my car (in the trunk). I didn't use it on a boat but it is good quality

Works great as a battery box, but limited space for a camping/project box
Part of me wanted to dock a start because it didn't fit "my" particular need, but overall it's a pretty nice product. NOCO makes some decent stuff, and I've had this and the Group 24 box in my hands for a project of mine, and quality seemed better than other options. This box fits U1 batteries nicely, with a little bit of wiggle room inside. I'm using a 35Ah U1 battery from Harbor Freight.I bought the box for a 12V car fridge project, where I don't have always-on power sockets to keep it running. My hope was to convert the box into a camping/project box where I could mount a solar charge controller (to regulate the battery charge from the car's power socket) and also install some USB and socket "pods" into the lid, so that it served my immediate project needs, but also additional needs for a campsite/in-tent power source. Unfortunately, all the dimensions of the lid pretty much made it impractical to put more than a switch and voltmeter due to the angles and such. I resorted to some simple connections direct from the battery, which still took up a bit of under-lid space.Overall, my reason for buying this box over the others was because of the competitive price and snap-on lid. It won't be used in rainy/wet conditions, so the vents (which include clip-on covers), aren't a concern. The included strap is a little misleading as it has this snap-together feature that I initially thought was some sort of fancy improvement over traditional straps. I eventually realized the snap-together "feature" had no function whatsoever, except maybe for packaging (it came snapped together, hence the reason I thought it was supposed to function that way). When used like a traditional strap, it holds great.

The breather vent allows rain in.
There's a vent on top to allow it to breathe which isn't a bad thing, but it does allow some rain to get in. Not a lot, but you will want to check it ever couple months if left outside. It's a little too big for the 12v 12ah mobility batteries and I almost considered trying to get two of them into a single battery box. I probably should have purchased a normal sized battery box and done that. But, they work. The top straps down easily and it comes with brackets to screw down so the box doesn't move. (Mine are sitting on the ground so it really doesn't matter to me.)

Great Except One Suggestion
$12 bucks for a Marine Battery box definitely seems like a great price and I think it is. However, in my application, I do not strap the battery down so when trailering the first time, the wind buffeting managed to work the top loose and out it went. Maybe larger "Tabs" where the box top connects to the main box could be improved. Would purchase again.

Yep. It's a battery box.
Fits my Duracell 35A AGM and Newmak 50A LiFePO4. Check your measurements CAREFULLY.The top doesn't lock on particularly well. Not a big issue if you're not moving the box around often, but I wanted this to assemble a portable 12v power source. There is a way to route a strap around the box to keep it all together through slots near the two handles.Ultimately I went to more of a "Pelican style" protective case, but this worked fine. Would buy again if I needed one.

Fits a NA Miata battery well
The girlfriend's recently purchased 1993 Miata was lacking everything battery related short of cables. The hold down bracket and battery were easy enough to get but I didn't want to mess around searching for an original battery tray.I didn't need the lid for my application. I installed some battery shock absorbing material that I had laying around into the depressions around the cross pattern in the bottom. Unnecessary but I already had the stuff. I placed a small strip of thin rubber in the car underneath where the box would sit, placed the battery in the box, and lifted it into place with the convenient handles on the box side. The added height of the parts used and the Napa maintenance free battery required a minor bend to be made in the battery hold down bracket and I built my own J hook with a 6x1.0 thread. I was very pleased with the result and thought I'd pass on the information.Overall the box was very well made for the price and should work for lawnmower and trailer applications well.

Just what I needed
Perfect tight size for a DIY 105AH LiFePO4 battery. I use this battery for operating an HF amateur radio which is why I have power poles connections, but could easily use larger power cables or add case mounted terminals.
